Francesca’s main strengths that I observed included engaging students in the content and the
learning process, being flexible and reacting to student needs, and building relationships. Francesca and I
talked about what her focuses were and I was able to observe her building capacity in those areas,
including the flow of her classroom from activity to activity and her engagement of students. In one
lesson that I observed she was able to transition students seamlessly from lecture to group discussion to
individual work to partner work all without losing valuable time. She touched on multiple different
learning styles and was able to explain to me how/why she planned the lesson that way.
Francesca worked hard to build rapport in her classroom by first building relationships with her
students. She put a lot of time and effort into making sure her students knew she cared for them and was
there to help. She was always open to feedback from colleagues and the administrative team. She had
the benefit of a wonderful student teacher program at Rochester University and it showed in her
teaching.
Francesca made huge strides as an educator this year. She shows a remarkable willingness to
learn and will work hard to be successful in her future. I am beyond confident in recommending her for a
position in your building. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Todd Calcamuggio
