Factors Associated with Ownership of Family Latrine in Ranah village


subdistrict Pulau Punjung Dharmasraya Regency Year 2017

ABSTRACT
Latrine is a place used to dispose of human faeces or faeces. The making of latrines is a
human effort to maintain health by making healthy living environments. In 2015 Ranah village
is a village with the lowest latrine ownership (99 families of 165 families), with the highest Open
Defecation number (66) in the Sungai Dareh Health Center work area. Therefore this
researchers want to know the factors that associated with the ownership of family latrines in
Ranah Village.

This research using cross sectional design with analytic survey method, population in
this study wereall head of household in Ranah Village, with 80 samples of Head of household.
The instrument used is questionnaire. Data analysis was done univariat and bivariate with Chi
Square test.

Results showed that there were correlation between knowledge (p = 0,002), attitude (p =
0,001), education level (p = 0,001), number of family member (p = 0,003), job (p = 0,001),
income (p = 0,001) With the ownership of family latrines in Ranah Village.

Suggestion given in this research is better health officer often do counseling about
healthy latrine and do trigger to cause disgust so that society want to make latrine.
