PURPOSE OF MEDICATION

Expected Pharmacological Action Therapeutic Use


-Interferes with the functions of WBC's in -Decreased pain and inflammation in acute
initiating and perpetuating the inflammatory attacks of gout

-Peripheral Neuritis -Alopecia -Aplastic Anemia -Available in Tablet & Capsule

Contraindications/Precautions
-Contraidicated in pts with Hypersensitivity
-Do not give concurrently with Cyclosporines or Ranolazine
-Use caution during pregnancy or with Renal or Hepatic Nursing Interventions

-May cause false-positive
results for urine hemoglobin
-Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit
juice during therapy
-Do not confuse colchicine with

-These drugs increase serum levels of Colchicine and

-Instruct pt to report muscle pain or
