Question: Give an example of an experience that involves both assimilation an d

accommodation.
According to Piaget’s cognitive development hypothesis, assimilation is the cognitive
process of fitting new information into existing cognitive schemas, perceptions, and
understanding. In general, it is basically beliefs and understanding of the world that does not
change as a result caused by new information rather, it adapts and serves as foundation of building
higher education or comprehension. Accommodation in the other hand is the part of adaptation
process. The process of which involves altering one's existing schemas, or ideas, as a result of new
information or new experiences.
When I was young, I’m not exactly interested in Politics. I just know the general rule of
the thumb, you may say the “theatrics” of it and how it works, the importance and blah blah blah.
You know, the textbook knowledge, you get the gist. All I know about politics then is generic and
there wasn’t anything emotional I have attached to it. As the years passed and I grow my
knowledge about politics, it continuous to progress until it became a little bit complicated as I
encounter jargons and the reputation but still then I wasn’t interested. But then this pandemic came
and there I’ve seen, understand and experienced the real importance of it and all that’s attach to it.
My mind was blown away that it wasn’t just about governing and the laws but what it could do to
the people, the generational effect takes place like a domino effect. Human rights violation,
propaganda, activism, historical distortions, corruption, poverty, economic issues, misogynistic
ideals, the psychological warfare happening everywhere both in and out of the cyber zone affecting
everyone’s lives. It was confusing and half assed truths and lies are thrown at each other’s side
you don’t know what to believe anymore. The politics I’ve known before just completely erased
from my mind, this politics I know now, is transformative, crumbling, fighting and yet losing. You
could feel the need to take action, it feels like I’m aware now, and a simple vote isn’t just a statistic
or number anymore, voting is making a future, a future where your future kins live and you decide
what environment they are going to live in. And whatever that is, you share the fault of it.
