Project Description:

ACAPS (Automated credit application processing system) a middleware system used within the bank to decision
loans, credit cards..Basically when a banker enters the customer information on a front end system, ACAPS takes
the information and using bank owned factors, credit bureau information, and Determines if the funds can be
issued, at what amount, and at what rate.
The ACAPS system is supported by credit scoring, credit bureau report retrieval, documentation preparation,
application decisions as well as interest rates and accounting functions.

ABS is the Account Billing System which handles numerous types of account and Policy level billing of Personal
sLines products from various Inputs and issue systems. The mission of ABS is to provide on time billing for
Personal Line products. Some of the functions that ABS performs are the updating of issue activity, payment
processing, direct entry updates ,internal ABS trigger activity, out of company statement bill/payment
processing, EFT and credit card processing, and EDI billing and payment processing, various types of system
reporting and issue system response feeds. All the information will be resides in IMSDB. According to this
information bill will be generate for each Policy and sending those bills to the customer to make payment.

The ABS system production cycle processes under multiple schedules – daily, weekly, monthly (various Types),
and special/”as needed”. This processing is done against various databases in ABS including ABS billing,
Statement Bill Client, Statement Bill recon/Bill, Statement Bill collection, ASSETS, Direct Entry/Sweep Collection,
PASS,VPALS and VSAM files for purged accounts, payment information and commission history.

Project Objective

Order rewire project aims at re-modeling DVS for better performance and operational cost reduction

Description of the Project:

DVS (Distributed Vision System) is a Middleware system (a.k.a. Service Bus) which allows Tier 1 applications
(front-end systems) to access VISION information. VISION (Virtual Information System Integrated Online
Network) is Verizon Wireless' leading billing system which provides all billing and account information on our
customer base, including reseller, Accounts Receivables/collections, and customer order operations
functionality.

Currently the core billing system is maintained in mainframes. As all the other systems are tightly coupled to this
billing system and in order to reduce the operating cost, a plan was proposed to move the billing system from
Mainframes to Java environment. As a team member my responsibility was to analyze all the COBOL modules
and come up with a High level design document that explains the core business logic involved in that module
and also to prepare detail design document that explains the flow of data and data dependencies between
different systems/data stores (table/files) for a particular module.
