Focus ‘on the border of the pages and get the children to say, or repeat after you, the names of the letters of the alphabet, pointing to each one as they say it. = Hold up the Alphabet Flashcards in random order. Repeat this until the children are able to sing the song accompanied only by the instrumental version. Speaking 2. Look at the cake. Say the letters. - + Focus on the cake and explain that all the letters of the ‘alphabet are on it. Draw attention to the fact that the letters are set in groups according to the pronunciation of ‘their names. Ifthe children know the English names of the colors, or if you wish to teach them, you can also point out that letters of the same color on the cake layers have the same pronunciation as the name of that color. For example, ‘areen letters (b, c, d, etc.) have the /i:/ sound; gray letters Gh, j,) have the /er/ sound, and so on. Have the children choose a shape, cut it out, paste it on the construction paper, and cut it out again. They then decorate it with a letter of the alphabet and a picture ilustrating one of the alphabet words. If possible, ensure that each child in the class chooses a different letter. + When the shapes ae finished, give each child a safety pin and show them how to stick it on the back of the button with a piece of tape.
