ANALYSIS PROCEDURE

1. Model creation from geometry data provided using Catia V5 R17.

2. Importing the solid model into hypermesh 9.0. For this the model in catia has to be saved as
*.igs or *.iges file. After importing into hypermesh, save it as *.hm. Creation of hexahedral
mesh using Solid 46 which is an eight noded layered solid element.
3. Material properties are incorporated into the material data in hypermesh 9.0.
4. 3D composite element layers are stacked according to the measured thickness of each
element. Total thickness is 7.58mm.
5. Cfd analysis on the fluid domain using Fluent 6.3.26, and saving the scalar pressure data on
the propeller surface as *.tpl format.
6. CFD pressure data from Fluent 6.3.26 is imported to hypermesh using *.tpl
7. These pressures are mapped to FE model of composite propeller in Hypermesh 9.0.
8. Boundary conditions are also applied in hypermesh 9.0
9. The deck generated from hypermesh is imported to the ansys 11.0 with all the BC’s.
10. Static analysis is carried out. The nodal displacements and stresses are plotted.
11. Interlaminar shear stresses are plotted, and checked for the allowable limits.
12. The deformed elements are updated and exported as cdb file for getting the deformed
geometry for the next iteration.
13. Deformed geometry is built in hypermesh. First save the deformed results file as .rst. Get this
in hypermesh. Go to utilities –export deformed shape – we will get the dat file. From this dat
file, iges can be created using hypermesh.
14. This deformed shape is taken to fluent for CFD analysis.
15. The process is repeated....
