LOGIC AND CRITICAL THINKING

Activity 1

1. Is there any difference between logic and reasoning?

 Logic is the systematic study of the form of arguments while Reason is the power of
the mind to think, understand, and form judgments logically.

2. Discuss how you have at one time or another used logical reasoning to     decide on
the following instances:
a. When choosing subjects to enroll in this semester.
- This Semester, I really don’t want to enroll any subjects because I am facing
many personal and family problems. And even if I enroll, I think that I can’t
finish or pass this second semester because I am not mentally stable. But still,
in the last day of enrollment, I decided to pushed thru with my enrollment
because I don’t want to waste a time. And I want to graduate on time.
b. When organizing your hectic activities.
- As a nursing student while having work and business, my time is super
hectic. In the morning, I open my business and start to do my work while waiting
for my class. Sometimes I really want to give up my business and work and just
focus in my studies but I also pushed thru. I still manage my activities and duties
even it is very tiring.
c. When using your face mask and face shield in a crowded area.
- As a medical student, implementing safety protocol is a must. Wearing a face
mask, face shield, and frequent hand washing is not only to protect ourselves but
also protecting others.

3. What is the relationship of Logic to other branches of philosophy?

 logic is the most fundamental branch of philosophy. Philosophy is based on
reasoning, and logic is the study of what makes a sound argument, and also of the
kinds of mistakes we can make in reasoning.
