1. Describe the cell covering of Mycobacterium species.(2 points)

The distinguishing characteristic of all Mycobacterium species is that the cell wall is thicker than
in many other bacteria, being hydrophobic, waxy, and rich in mycolic acids/mycolates.

2. Outline the acid fast staining technique using a flow chart. (8 points)
