Fame
Richard Branson's claim to fame is
obviously the Virgin Group. However, It’s
fair to say that any billionaire running a
massive international company notable to
a certain extent. Arguably, Richard
Branson true claim to fame is his eccentric
personality that is best seen through his
crazy publicity stunts. Driving a tank down
5th avenue in NYC or attempting to fly
around the word in a hot air balloon are
just two of many exploits that set Richard
apart from a “normal” billionaire.
The Virgin Group
Richard Branson started the Virgin
Group which is a global venture capital
conglomerate involved in travel, leisure,
health, music, entertainment, media,
financial services, and Space.
The virgin group started as virgin mail
order which evolves into virgin records
Virgin records became an extremely well
know record label that signed a number
of famous bands. “In 1973 he helped
form Virgin Records, which quickly
became the principal label worldwide for
punk and new wave.”
In 1984 he became the majority backer
of the airline that he renamed Virgin
Atlantic Airways.
By the 1990s the Virgin conglomerate,
which was among the largest privately
held companies in the United Kingdom,
comprised of 100 businesses
Currently Virgin is constantly growing
and investing in new ventures
