Society looks up to the court and the entire judicial system to perform numerous activities

since it's the lender of the last resort. The court checks its powers, adjudicates civil disputes,

and serves as a negotiator towards achieving solutions to a series of problems of its citizens

Jackson et al. (2019). The US court system is, however, faced with several issues in the

process of executing its mandate. Fostering innovation and change in the appointment of

supreme court justices could help improve the US court system and its functions.

The US court system can foster innovation through its practices, technology, and the

adoption of new ways of policy formation and execution. This is done to improve the courts'

performance and position it for better in the future Jackson et al. (2019). Agencies should look

into transformational and incremental changes by improving on what they are currently

practicing. This can be done through monitoring and assessment to measure performances and

identify areas where the courts can make the changes. Adoption of new technology that would

shorten the time taken by the jury to process the cases also should be implemented. The courts

serve a multilingual population, and this calls for high-tech translation technology for speech

to speech and a real-time translation for language; these should also be improved to meet the

justice needs.

The president appoints the US supreme court justices, and it could prove challenging to

get an appointment-free of political influence. Politics could render it a party-dominated

institution and could threaten the future trust of the American people in the legitimacy and

independence of the judicial system. It could also damage the court's image in administering

its operations Epps et al. (2019). The court could, however, function without any political

influences. This could be achieved if some reforms are made on clauses giving a mandate to

the president to appoint justices. Proposals should be made to include the election of a section

of court justices by the other party not affiliated with the president’s party or an independent

body. This will help diffuse the politics in the system and improve its functionality.
