High vapor concentrations can caure narcotic effects (like dizziness and fatigue). May be irritating to the eyes. PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Swallowing, Skin Contact, Rye, or Inhalation. MEDICAL CONDITIONS POSSIBLY AGGRAVATED: Any pre-existing disorders or diseases of the nervous system, liver, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory syatom, akin, and eyes. POTENTIAL HEALTH BFPECTS OF ETHYL ALCOHOL: ETHYL ALCOHOL may cause eye and upper respiratory tract irritation. Short-term overexposure above 1,000 PPM by the inhalation route may suse central nervous syatem (CNS) effects such as headache and ieritation of eyes, nose and throat. If continued for more than an hour further CNS effects may appear such ag: dizzinces, drowsiness, loss of appetite, and an inability to concentrate. Gastrointestinal (stomach) effects may occur vith Buch symptoms as nousea and vomiting. Prolonged or repeated contact may dry okin and cause irritation. Chronic exposure owy result in irritation ef mucous wembranes, headache, and/or oymptoms of CNS depression such as drowsiness and lack of concentzation. Excessive long-term exposure may also produce liver damage, Moderately toxic if swallowed. Also see Toxicological Info. (Section 11) and Ecological Info. (Section 12) SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES FOR OVEREXPOSURE BY: SWALLOWING: If victim is conscious and able to ewallow, have victin drink water to dilute. Never give anything by mouch if victim ia uncenscious or having convulsions. This product posec a poecible lung aspiration hazard ir it is ingested. Induce vomiting only if advised by physician or Poison Control Centar, CALL A PHYSICIAN OR POISON CONTROL CENYER IMMEDIATELY. SKIN CONTACT: Inmediately flueh affected area with plenty of water while removing contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. EYE CONTACT; Immediately flush eyes with plenty of cool water for at least 15 minutes. Do not permit victim to rub eyes. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. /T0/0T 00 (Ores ON MA/KL] LT:eT THE willenniun Petrochomicale Inc. OR ANTICIPATED HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS OF COMBUSTION: Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide can form upon combustion. EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Use dry chemical. “alcohol resisrane® foam, or carbon dioxide: water may be ineffective, but water applied as a spray can absorb some of the fire's heat and should be used to keep fize-exposed containers cool. FIRE FIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS: (Note - Individuals should perform only those fire-fighting procedures for which they have been erained.) If a leak or spill has not ignited, use water spray to disperse the vapors and to protect personnel attempting to stop a leak. Water spray may be used to flush spille away from exposures and to dilute : spills to nenflammable mixtures. Firefightere should wear full fixe fighting turn out gear (full Bunker Gear). They should use self-contained breathing apparatus operating in the positive Pressure mode and equipped with full eye protection and a full face piece when there is a possibility of exposure to smoke, fumco or hazardous decomposition products. Bthanol vapors axe heavier than aix and may travel s congiderable distance to a source of ignition and flash back. Alcohols burn with a pale blue flama which may be extremely hard to see under normal ligating conditions. Personnel may only be able to feel the heat of the fire without seeing Flames. Extreme caution must be exercised in fighting alechol fires “for Bure Ethy2 Alcohol 10/01/1909 FRI 13:27 FAX 1+501+985+8870 Ic CHEM LAB Boosvoos Millennium Petrochemicals Ine. Turn off or remove ali ignition nouxces. See Section 5 for further information on handling fire and explosion hazards Contain spilied material. Transfer to secure containers. Woe: necessary, collect ugiag absorbent media. In the event of an uncontrolled release of thie material, the user should determine if the release is reportable under applicable lava and regulations. SECTION 7 - HANDLING AND STORAGE Protect container against physical damage. Detached or outaide aterage is preferred. Inside sterage should ba in an NFPA approved flammable liquids storage room or cabinet. 222 ignition sources should be eliminated. Smoking should be prohibited in storage areas. lectrical inetallations should be in accordance wich article 501 of the National Rlectrical Code. NFPA 30, Flamnable and Combustible Liguids Code, should be followed for all storage nd handling. Frequent careful leakage inspection should be done. Automatic sprinkler system should be provided. Taolate from oxidizers, chemicale capable of spontancous heating, materials reacting with air or moisture to liberate heat, igniticn sources and explosives, Congult local fire codes for additional storage information. Keep packaged material out of oun and away fxom heat. Remove clegure carefully; internal preasure may ba present. Keop closure up to pravent leakage When contents are beiag transferzed, the metallic container must be bonded vo the receiving container an@ grounded to avoid ecatic @iacharges. Never use presoure to eupty. Replace closure securely after each opening. Since emptied containers xetain residual product (vapor or liquid), all precautions described on thie MSDS must be obsezved. SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION CONTROL MEASURES: Engineexing controls should bs used whenever feasible to maintain concentrations below accoptable exposure limits (Section 2), ineluaing but not limited co enclosures, local ventilation and dilucion ventilation. 00%} Loree ON XU/KL] LT:eT Tad 96/TO/Or Millennium Petrochemicals Inc.
