Reflection #3

When it comes to the project as a whole there were a lot of contributing factors when it

came to my growth in teamwork, organization and project management. One of those factors

would be working with a client. When working with Matt and the other stakeholders such as the

teachers it really helped me in all three of those areas. When working with Matt it felt like

working with a different team member and communicating with him on a daily basis reflected

on how I should treat my other team members. His feedback was very helpful as well and helped

with the organization of the project, as the team made sure to have all the documents needed

to receive such feedback on what to do next was sent accordingly and neat. Matt helped with

project management skills in addition to the feedback he gave on certain documents. Matt

thought on a logistical scale asking when will the project be done and how long will it take to

ship the certain materials and made clear to us of what will be done every step of the way in

order for the project to be completed. Working with the client was very necessary in that regard

as Matt showed a different viewpoint on teamwork and unknowingly made the team super

organized and showed me a different way of thinking when it comes to a full scope of the

project.

When it comes to the full scope of the project, outside of working with Matt and the

school there are other organizations that had a stake in the project. Matt had an educational

focus with the project as the garden will teach students about sustainability but the school is

connected to a parish and their community would also benefit from the project as well. The

parish community is working towards having an additional food source on top of education for

the community and with that the garden comes in handy. The parish feeds families on a daily

basis making sure students and the ones that support them have the needs to move forward in

life with the basic needs that should be met such as food. Working on the project with the goals

of not just the school and students in mind helped in reminding myself why I wanted to be an

engineer in the first place. Helping those in need is very important and having such a small

impact makes a big difference in how applied my efforts in the project and future ones to come.
