Brezel socks
SIZE:
S/M
Approximately 18/21 cm (7.3/8 in) foot circumference (length is adjustable)
MATERIALS:
o US 5 – US 6 (3.75 - 4 mm) circular needle long enough for ‘magic loop” or dpn’s (adjust needle size if
necessary to obtain the correct gauge)
o cable needle
o stitch markers
o tapestry needle

YARN:

Approximately 150 yards of MC and 30 yards CC of aran/worsted weight yarn to obtain gauge.

GAUGE:

23 sts x 28 rows=10 cm/4 inches in cable pattern

20 sts x 28 rows=10 cm/4 inches in stockinette st

DIRECTIONS Row 2(WS): yo, p to yo, ssp (yo with following st), turn

Using CC and smaller needles tubular cast on 40/44 Row 3: yo, k to yo, k3tog ( 2 yos with following st), turn
sts and join to work in the round being careful not to
twist. Row 4: yo, p to yo, sssp (yos with following st), turn

Set up round: place marker for beginning of the round, Repeat rows 3-4 until all yos have been consumed,
work in 2x2 rib [k2, p2] for 3 rounds. ending with a WS row. The last row will bring the RS
facing. Break off CC. With MC , yo, k to yo, k2tog, work
Switch to MC. instep sts in pattern to 1 st before yo, k2tog, k to end.

Work 12/14 rounds in established ribbing. FOOT

Switch to larger needles and start to work sock in Continue working as established with brezel pattern on

HEEL

Heel is worked across 18/22 sole sts only. Work to m,


drop MC and join CC.
