Intelligence agencies are prevalent all around the world, and countries
have specific divisions to handle foreign intelligence and terrorism with
its research and analysis. Many well-known intelligence agencies are
MI6 of United Kingdom, CIA of USA, RAW of India. One such Special-
Ops division if MOSSAD of Israel.
MOSSAD is the national security and intelligence agency of Israel
contributing towards intelligence collection, covert operations and
counter-terrorism operations. It is one of the largest cloak-and-dagger
organizations in the world, having its purpose powers, missions and
budget undefined and unaware to civilians.
Mossad was formed on December 13, 1949, to support the-then Israeli
agencies, AMAN and Shin Bet, which reported directly to the prime
minister. Mossad works all over the world secretly, and have had
considerable ties with RAW. According to India Today reports, two RAW
safe houses in J&K were used to house Mossad’s station chief between
1989 and 1992. Also, it was reported that in 2005, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi was protected by Mossad agents during his visit to
Turkey.
One of the known missions of Mossad is the capture of an Israeli
whistleblower who leaked the details of Israel’s Nuclear weapon
construction to the British Press. In a mission to capture him, he was
lured to Italy by a female Mossad agent. There he was captured and
then taken back to Israel with the help of Italy’s secret service. He was
punished with 18 years of jail and 11 years of solitary confinement.
