The 11 Most Beautiful Beaches in Albania
Albania has become one of the main European tourist destinations in recent
years, thanks to its Riviera and its splendid beaches. But which are the most
beautiful Albanian beaches? Here is the list of most popular beaches in the
country of Eagles.
•1 Ksamil
•2 Gjipe
•3 Karaburun beach
•4 Drymades
•5 Himara
•6 Saranda
•7 Livadh
•8 Gramë bay
•9 Velipoje Beach
•10 Vlora
•11 Durres
KSAMIL
The village of Ksamil has numerous attractive beaches, so it will
not be challenging to find an area that you like. Not surprisingly,
it is one of Europe’s summer havens and one of the most popular
destinations in the Mediterranean, especially in July and August.
The sand is bright, and the sea turquoise and shallow; many bars
and restaurants are on the beach. The lido is connected with
shuttles from Saranda.

GJIPE
One of the hidden pearls of Albania is certainly the beach of Gjipe. Tourists can go there by boat or
even by car, although in the latter case, they will then have to continue on a stretch of road on
foot to the coast.
The beach is surrounded by high rocks, which give the feeling of being on a secret island and not
on an ordinary beach. The water is crystal clear with beautiful shades of dark.
DURRES
Along the northernmost coast of Albania, Durres is a pretty seaside resort loved above all by younger
tourists and families with children because of the many entertainments offered on the beaches, the
low sea, and the mostly sandy coast. The city beach itself is known for the numerous sports activities
offered to tourists: beach volleyball, soccer, bowling, and fishing. But, in Durres’s surroundings, the
best known seaside resorts are Golem and Mali I Robit, two marvelous beaches of clear sand long
kilometers, perfectly equipped with bars and umbrellas to ensure visitors’ relaxation. Quieter and
more secluded, but absolutely to be included in the travel itinerary, is instead the General’s Beach, a
small horseshoe-shaped bay, nestled between two rocky promontories and surrounded by dense
Mediterranean vegetation.
VLORA
Vlora is undoubtedly the tourist seaside resort par excellence of the whole of Albania. If you
are looking to spend a holiday in a place that offers you fun and beautiful beaches, then this is
really the one for you. If you don’t want to move to discover Vlora’s surroundings, the city
beach itself offers you soft sand and clear waters for a day of relaxation or sport of your
choice.
VELIPOJA
In the north of Albania, almost on the border with Montenegro, the small Velipoje
boasts all the characteristics of a perfectClick to add

tourists, and typical restaurants where you can taste excellent fish dishes. The country’s
real attraction is represented by over ten kilometers of coast bathed by the Adriatic
Sea’s clear waters, which overlooks a beach of fine sand, particularly rich in iodine.
Gramë bay
One of the most beautiful places to visit in Albania, Gramë bay, is a beautiful destination to spend the
summer days by the sea, near Vlora.
You can only go there by boat and offer camping services. But it is good to remember to bring with
you food and water and everything you need for the day because the area does not offer other types
of services.
Livadh
If you visit Himara, it is also mandatory to go to Livadh beach, located only a few kilometers away.
The beach is one of the longest in the country and has become famous for its dark waters and olive
trees.

Saranda
is a city on the sea, in front of the island of Corfu. Even in the city, you can take advantage of a swim in
a crystal clear sea. The beach is pebbly and well served. On the promenade, there are restaurants and
bars for all tastes.
Furthermore, just a short distance from the city center, you can go to other attractive beaches such as
the ‘Pasqyrat’ beach.
Best Restaurants in Albania
To not visit the food outlets or restaurants of a country is an abomination. Treating yourself to a
well-cooked meal rich with the scrumptious and unique flavors of a region is an essential thing to
do. Throughout Albania, and in Tirana particularly, there are plenty of places that serve delicious
and mouth-watering food. Here, we have listed some of the best finds in the country:
From cozy café and roadside establishments to top gourmet restaurants, Albania has a rich food
scene that is popular among all travelers – and even the locals. If you are planning to go to
Albania, make sure that you visit the following places:
Mullixhiu
Straight out of the kitchen of Chef Bledar Kola, who had previously worked at the world-famous
Copenhagen-based restaurant called Noma, the food at this eatery is, and we are being modest here,
divine. The traditional Albanian dishes are prepared with a modern touch that results in unique tastes.
Located near Tirana’s artificial lake, on a daily basis, the restaurant sees a large number of customers.

SALT
In the mood for a dinner date with your partner? Then, SALT is the right place. Offering exquisite
ambiance and delicious food, SALT is a fantastic place to visit. The place is a heaven for sushi lovers
who must make sure to visit it on their trip to Albania. The restaurant is in Tirana and is very easy to
find.
Artigiano at Vila
If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant, Artigiano at Vila should be on the top of your list. It is
popular among both locals and tourists for its finger-licking good Italian food.
Best Museums to Visit in Albania
Albania is a relatively smaller country, which remained neglected by tourists for a long
time. Ever since the country came out of the communist regime, it started witnessing an
influx of tourists, excitedly exploring every nook and corner of the country. But, if you
want to get to know about the country to the fullest, you should visit its museums. This is
a perfect way to have an idea of a country’s history and the testing times it had to pass
through to reach the stage it is currently at.
Albania has a rich history. And while visiting its pristine beaches should be on your to-do
list, you should also squeeze museum tours in your itinerary. Read this article to find the
best museums to visit in Albania.
Spending time in cool cafes and taking part in other activities is a good way to explore a foreign
country. But, visits to museums will help you better understand the ups and downs a country has
faced. When in Albania, make sure that you pay a visit to the following museums in Albania .
National Gallery of Tirana
Another heaven for art lovers, the National Gallery of Tirana is a two-floor big museum that has so
many exciting pieces of artwork. In addition to their stunning designs, these art pieces also have a
story to tell. Each piece provides some kind of social and political commentary on the values of the
country.
Gijrokaster
Gijrokaster is a small and beautiful town that is a must place to visit when you are in Albania. The cobblestone
streets and the stone buildings of the town will create a long-lasting impression on you. This town is also home to
the country’s oldest castle. Your visit to Gijrokaster is not completed unless you pay a visit to this stunning place.
In the open courtyard of the museum, an annual folk cultural festival is also held. In case your holiday dates match
with that of the festival’s, we recommend you attend it.
The Final Word
Many travelers don’t talk about visiting museums. When you have the privilege of visiting a new country, it is best
to learn about it as much as you can. Visiting the most-visited places is a good way to explore a country, but the
experience that you will receive after spending time in museums is unmatchable. Just imagine how nice it will be
to learn about the country’s past in less than an hour. The life-like paintings and the old items of the past let you
picture what the country was like several decades ago.
National Museum George Castrioti
Geroge Kastrioti Skanderbeg, the revered hero of Albania, was from the country’s ancient town called
Kruja. When the Ottoman Empire advanced to Albania, Kruja, under the leadership of Skanderbeg,
resisted the attempt. Everything in the town honors and remembers its greatest hero; hence this
museum. Inside this palatial building, you will find jaw-droppingly beautiful paintings that show giant
statues of Skanderbeg and other warriors and battle scenes.
National Museum of Education
The cultural importance of Korca, a city in southeastern Albania, is hard to ignore. Referred to as the
country’s cultural capital, Korca takes pride in being the town who had the first Albanian language
school which was opened under the Ottoman Empire in 1887. Inside the building of the school, you
will find the country’s National Museum of Education. Here, you will find copies and books that
contain the first written text of the Albanian alphabets. It is a great place to visit.

Museum of Medieval Art

Another gem in Korca is the Museum of Medieval Art. The place is a heaven for art and history lovers.
In this wonderful museum, you’d get to marvel at the large collection of items of cultural significance,
including, but not limited to, jewelry, textiles, fine metals, stones, etc.
Albanian Alps Travel Guide
It is the
poorest country in Europe and, for a long time, also the most isolated: Albania. But a lot has
changed in the last ten years: the country is stable, open and tourism is starting to take off. Rightly so,
because it is a beautiful undiscovered country that has a lot to offer. Like the Albanian Alps

About the Albanian Alps

Albania is located on the Adriatic Sea and borders Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Greece. Tirana
is the capital, and from there, it is a few hours drive to the north, where the Albanian Alps – also referred
to as the Accursed Mountains – stretch across the borders of Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro. The
‘Maja e Jezercës’ is the highest point of the massif at 2,694 meters.
The most beautiful area is the Valbona Valley near Theth. Here you will find beautiful routes, dramatic
mountain landscapes, glaciers, and untouched nature. You can organize treks yourself, the routes are
usually well marked, and the people are friendly, hospitable, and helpful. Often you have the paths to
yourself, and you will only meet a few locals. You can spend the night at guest houses that feel like
homestays or in your tent
When to visit?
Albania has a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters. It can get treacherously cold
in the mountains. The best time for a trip to Albania and its Alps is in May, June, and September. Go
there!
Shkodër
This is the largest city in the region, an ideal place to start the trip. The mountain view already makes
you excited to leave. There is also plenty to do in and around the city. See the ruins of a castle, visit
churches and mosques, and hike, bike, or ride along Lake Shkodër .
Motorway
Not all roads in Albania are easy to drive; fortunately, the government is currently renewing the roads.
One of these new roads is the SH20 from Shkodër towards Tamarë. The road is new, easy to drive, and
most importantly: beautiful! Ideal if you come from Montenegro or if you are heading that way

Kukës
Kukës is not a very special city, but it is nice to stop for a cup of coffee (on the way to Kosovo). The city
is located near a beautiful blue lake and the road to Peshkopi is a beautiful route
Peshkopi
This city in eastern Albania is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding mountains,
such as the high mountain Korab on the border with Macedonia. The town itself is
also nice to walk through, it has a pleasant shopping street and sells nice cups of
coffee.
