The role of Mathematics in Artificial Intelligence
Galileo Galili once said that “Mathematics is the language with which God has
written the universe.” This statement refers to the important role that mathematics plays
in our lives daily. Artificial intelligence is just one of the many fields that mathematics
plays a major role. Artificial intelligence is thought of as the future where machines
exhibit intelligence that can rival that of humans. This however cannot be achieved
without mathematics.
Mathematics is at the core of artificial intelligence and machine learning because it
provides a means of implementing how their goals can be reached. It shows how to solve
very difficult deep abstract problems. It does that by using methods and techniques
already known in mathematics (Mushrequa).
Artificial intelligence issues can be divided into two categories; search problems
and representation problems. Rules, frames, logics, and nets are among the
interconnected models and technologies that follow. They are all math inclined subjects.
Artificial intelligence's main goal is to develop a model of human comprehension that is
acceptable. The concepts and strategies are majorly prepared from various branches of
mathematics.
Linear algebra, calculus, and probability are the three key branches of mathematics
that make up a successful AI profession. Artificial intelligence experts have mastery of
linear algebra. Linear Algebra is a must-know for artificial intelligence scientists and
researchers as it aids in the generation of fresh ideas. Calculus provides the logical
thinking for artificial intelligence. It can model objective problems using calculus-related
mathematical knowledge. Probability offers the tools to deal with the many uncertainties
that are in the artificial intelligence realm.
Artificial intelligence and mathematics are two concepts that work hand in hand.
Mathematics has brought artificial intelligence this far. So to lead in today’s artificial
intelligence-driven world, you need to have a solid background in math (Jamal).
