David García is an English teacher and Patricia is a new student. Patricia gets into the classroom and greets Mr.

paragraph about them and underline the verb to be.

singer; she is married and has two children. Her husband’s name is Gerald Pike.

Juanes is from Medellin. He is not in Colombia, now. He is in Miami. He is a Pop Music


singer, too. He is married to Karen Martinez and they have two children.

Shakira and Juanes are very good singers. Shakira is a beautiful woman and Juanes is a handsome man. They
are happy and friendly. Many people are happy with them.

1. Now that you have discovered the verb to be structures apply them in context. Laura is in the
United States and writes a letter to her friend Simon. Read the letter and fill in the blanks with the
corresponding subject pronouns and/or conjugation of the verb.
