Frequently Asked Questions SDE

1. What are the courses offered under SDE?

SDE offers both UG and PG courses. The UG courses include BA,


B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Com and BBA. PG courses include MA,
M.Com and M.Sc. Mathematics.

2. Is the duration of the courses the same as regular courses?

The duration of the courses are the same as that of the regular courses-3 years
(6 Semesters) for UG and 2 years (4 Semesters) for PG courses.

3. How to apply for courses under SDE?

Online applications will be invited at the beginning of the academic year. The
applicants should register through the link www.sde.uoc.ac.in. The printout of
the application should be sent to the ‘The Director, School of Distance
Education’, University of Calicut, Calicut university P.O, Pin-673635.

4. How can we avail spot admission?

The candidates should come with the printout of the online registration form ,
fee receipts in original and all original certificates with self attested copies to
the SDE office and get admitted. The certificates will be returned to the
candidates on the spot after verification.

5. What are the procedures after getting admission to SDE courses?

After the admission procedure is completed, the Identity cards will be uploaded
in the official website, which the students can download. The enrollment
number on the Identity card is required for applying for the I Semester
Examination. The students should carry the Identity card with them for
attending the contact classes and for receiving their study materials from their
respective contact class centres.

6. What is Open Entrance Examination and how to apply?

Candidates who have not completed plus two or equivalent examination and
wish to obtain BA/B.Com degree can apply for Open Entrance Examination.
Applications will be invited online and the candidates who pass the examination
can apply for BA/B.Com courses under SDE.

7. Is the change of stream from regular to SDE and vice-versa permissible?


The candidate who have taken admission to UG courses under regular stream
are eligible for stream change to the respective courses under SDE. Stream
change is permissible from SDE to regular mode in third and fifth semester.

8. Can the candidates who have discontinued the courses continue their courses later
on?

Candidates who have discontinued their courses can persue their studies by
applying for re-admission.

9. What is token registration?

The candidates who have not registered for any of the semester examination can
avail token registration for applying for the next semester examination without
break. They can apply for the missed semester in the subsequesnt chances.

10. How to apply for transfer certificate?

The TC will be issued from the SDE online for candidates from 2017 admission
onwards. The candidates before 2017 admission have to submit hard copy of the
application along with identity card and copy of the final semester hall
lticket/Consolidated Grade Card.
