Assignment #1- Written expression Topic- Policing picture of Police Officers protecting the community According to Britannica, the police body of officers represents the civil authority of the government. Police typically are responsible for maintaining public order and safety, enforcing the law and preventing, detecting, and investigating criminal activities. These functions are known as policing. Police are often also entrusted with various licensing and regulatory activities. Following the definition, policing thus may be performed by several different professional organizations: public police forces, private security agencies, the military, and government agencies with various surveillance and investigative powers. The best known of these bodies are the public constabulary forces that patrol public spaces, often in marked cars, and whose members wear a uniform. They are the most visible representatives of the civil authority of government, and they provide the model typically associated with police organizations. Policing has therefore become a complex undertaking that straddles the traditional institutional and jurisdictional distinctions between public and private, criminal and political.Numerous factors help to explain the diversity of police activities and systems. The types of crime typically committed in a society and the methods used by criminals play a great part in determining a police force's activities. For instance, if criminals use firearms, the police are likely to be armed, or if criminals use computers to commit crimes, the police may establish a special unit dedicated to investigating cybercrimes. The police force is dedicated, devoted, responsible, and protects our country. They abide by the policies, laws, rules and regulations for their and our safety. The reason for me selecting this topic is because the police are the main body that protects us and our families. And in this pandemic, we need their protection. They aid us in time of harm, family emergenccies, and crimes, like raping, drug-trafficking, kidnapping, and human-traficking. From the past until today, they protect and serve our country lawfully. My painting is one that is a landscape. It shows the significance of the police force. My composition will elucidate and symbolize the importance of policing. This will be displayed in my perspective because this is how I see the police in times of crimes and as opposed to what they do. The message/theme is responsibility, dedication, protection, devotion to the country and serving the country lawfully. Assignment #2- Elements Of Art Elements of art are stylistic features that are included within an art piece to help the artist communicate. It (Elements of art) are the building blocks of art. It is the basic tools Artists use to create an artwork. I will be using colour and line in my painting. 1. Colour- is the element of art that involves light. It is produced when light waves strike an object and is reflected into our eyes. It consists of three properties; Hue, intensity and value. Colour hue is simply the name that is given to a colour. Such as red, yellow, blue, purple, green, orange and so on. It is arranged in a colour wheel which is a circular chart divided into 12 (twelve) sections with each sector showing a different colour. It is made up of three (3) types of colours which are: Primary, Secondary and Tertiary colours. wp . Line- is a line is an identifiable path created by a point moving ina space. It is one-dimensional and can vary in width, direction, and length. Lines often define the edges of a form. Examples of lines are: horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, straight or curved, jagged, thick or thin, zig zag, wavy, dotted, curly, parallel, contour, perpendicular, broken, and spiral lines. Assignment # 3- Principles Of Design Principles of design represents how the Artist/s uses the elements of art to establish an effect and to help convey the Artist/s intentions. I will be using Contrast and Emphasis in my painting. 3. Contrast- refers to the arrangement of opposite elements and effects. It creates a visual interest, excitement, and drama in a piece of artwork. Examples are: light vs dark colours, rough vs smooth textures, large vs small shapes, and high vs low art pieces. Contrast can be used to create variety and visual interest. 4. Emphasis- is the created center of interest. It is applied in art to attract or grab the viewer's attention to a particular area or object. This is typically the focal point or main subject of the artwork. It is the place in the artwork that your eyes first land on. Assignment #4- Painting Techniques Salting and Scraping are the two techniques I'll be applying in my painting. 5. Salting or the Salting/Salt technique occurs when table salt is applied to paint, it begins to absorb the moisture around it. This creates a textured effect that is very useful for a painting. After the paint dries, the salt particles on the painting are simply dusted off. a . Scraping technique is applied to selected areas where you may require the white of the paper to be seen as a highlight, or to produce lines ‘white’ colour among other colours. Scraping removes dry paint off the surface to reveal the white of the paper. I will be applying salting and scraping to my painting to display and highlight in the Day and Night, when police officers are protecting and serving our country. Salting symbolizes the Night and Salting symbolizes the Day. Completed and typed by: Afesha Danicl- 3 East.
