Grow, Live, Hope

People tend to go through life without learning lessons, living in the moment, and hoping

for more. This way of living isn’t going to help you get through the day. As a famous scientist

Albert Einstein once said, “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.” He is telling

us that we should learn from our past mistakes, but don’t forget to live today. He also

emphasises the fact that we need hopes and dreams to progress and help give us the drive we

need to reach new heights.

A couple years ago, my team and I were playing in a cup game against another very

good team. It was in the 77th minute of our already treacherous 80 minute game. The score

was tied 1-1 after two scrappy goals. The sun was setting beyond the horizon and the blaring

lights flickered to life. We had already believed that we had tied the game and we were going

into penalties. We were already hoping for the future and imagining us celebrating after their

missed penalty. Little did we know, they were already pushing for one last goal, they were not

going to be going into penalties today. Despite the fact that we were so caught up in the future,

a last minute tackle saved us the game since we were all watching the ball. Again we were

celebrating the game saving tackle. All of a sudden the ball flew in from the corner and then a

back post runner had finished us off.

If we had just lived for the present and finished the game off, who knows how that

tournament could’ve ended if we had just played our game. Everyone is so caught up in the

future and the past when you can just live in the moment. Make sure you learn from what you

have done, but don’t dwell on it your here now and you should live now.
