Abstract—This paper proposes a new formulation for optimal operation in islanded microgrids
with realistic goals considering uncertainties in load as well as wind generations; to evaluate the
impact of wind site correlations on the optimal operation. The effect of uncertainties in the
islanded microgrid environment is handled using probabilistic based 2m+1-point estimate
method together with Nataf transformation for correlation. The objectives functions considered
for optimization are total generation cost, total emission and total voltage deviations in voltage
profile. The problem is formulated considering operational constraints of fixed capacity droop
controlled generations and other islanded operational constraints along with uncertainties.
Furthermore, the proposed probabilistic multi-objective problem is solved using the multi-
objective version of ant lion optimization algorithm in finding the optimal droop parameters of
generators in islanded microgrid. The performance of the proposed solution methodology is
tested in 33-bus microgrid. The effectiveness of proposed method is highlighted by comparing
with other algorithms, and the effect of wind site correlations on considered objective functions
are discussed thoroughly.
