Abstract

Innovation is a key in times of crisis to diversity and accordingly to the survival of businesses.

Yet, open innovation is considered to be competent and economical way as compared to the

closed innovation to develop new materials, new products, and new technologies along with

competent approaches. It obliges that partner function in an open network in which they can

collaborate (Ketchan. et al, 2004). Focusing on open innovation, approaches, competitive

dynamics, and this study scrutinizes the approaches and methods to innovation Boeing and

Airbus has confronted in seeking to uphold its leading position in the aviation. The study will put

emphasis on how Airbus and Boeing, developed the role of the procurement function by using

the approach of open innovation and the partnership and ventures, hazards and limits of this

approach. Conceding the competitive actions of competitors is dire to the survival of both firms.

The dominant goal of this research is to explain the economical crescendos between Boeing and

Airbus in the aviation industry. Competitive strategies and approaches on how to improve

performance and strengthen in response to moves of one another. The study will also

demonstrate the viable changing aspects literature scrutinizes such struggling for position and its

allegations for structural outcomes. A series of approaches, moves and countermoves in the midst

of both can design new patterns that disrupt opponents’ profits and even loom their endurance.

As a final point, by probing Boeing’s and Airbus main strengths, and how world’s shared and

predetermined airspace will become significantly further complex in the future, options of

business divergence and risk-taking ethos, this paper finalized how Boeing and Airbus shares the

common vision for underlying commitment to safety and continue its place as the industry

leader.
