These are the Formula for Geometric Sequence and Geometric Series

1. The formula in finding the nth term of a geometric sequence is

a n = a 1 r n−1

Wherein:
a n = nth term

a 1= first term

r = common ratio
n = number of terms
2. To insert terms let us firs identify the common ratio by using the formula

r = an

n−k a

1
Where: n = number of terms
k = 1, since it is the first term placement
r = common ratio
Remember that after getting common ratio (r) multiply it with the previous term to find
the next term or divide the next term with (r) if the missing term is a previous term term
Example: a 1, a 2, a 3 ,___, ___, ___ multiply
___, ___, a 3, a 4, a 5 divide

3. Finite Geometric Series

n
a (1−r )
Sn = 1
1−r
Where:
Sn = the sum of the first n terms
a 1 = first term
n = number of terms
r = common ratio

4. Infinite Geometric series

a1
S = 1−r

Where:
S = sum to infinity
a 1= first term
r = common ratio
