Hello 3M Families!

June is flying by quickly. We are working towards completing our learning outcomes in our various subject
areas, finding time to celebrate together and making wonderful memories to wrap up our year as a 3M family.
Here are some quick updates for our class as we head into the final stretch of our school year.
In Language Arts we have concluded our story writing with each student planning, editing, revising, illustrating
their story and book cover, then finally publishing their own mini storybook. They read their stories to their
grade 1 Book Buddies this week and they will be bringing home their mini story books next week to share with
you. We will end the year off with some special writing activities, Oh the Places You’ll Go 3D air balloons.
They’ll even write advice brochures for my grade threes who I’ll have next year. The 3M class was excited to
hear the grade 2 classes will be coming for a tour of our grade 3 classes next week and 3M will be sharing
what they will be learning, giving them a classroom tour and answering any questions they may have about
grade 3.
In Math we have finished our unit on Measurement - measuring length in centimeters & meters. The students
had fun using measuring tapes and measuring themselves and things around our classroom. They also learned
about measuring mass to figure out the weight of objects in grams & kilograms. Next week we will conclude
our year learning about 2D shapes & 3D objects for our final unit in math. Students will enjoy making various
3D objects and figuring out the faces, vertices and edges.
In Social Studies we have concluded our final country of Tunisia. Students enjoyed writing letters, completing
a brochure and drawing pictures of things they learned about the culture in this country. We will finish off the
year examining Global Citizenship and how we are all interconnected. They will examine various worldwide
organizations that help people around the world.
The grade 3 teachers have decided to take our classes for our walks to the community playgrounds on the last
two Fridays of the school year, weather permitting, on Friday, June 17th and Friday, June 24th. We will put a
note in your child’s agenda the day before to remind them to come to school with a hat, sunscreen and a water
bottle.
