Kensington Palace and Gardens
Originally a private house, public visitors are now warmly welcomed into Kensington Palace – the birthplace of Queen Victoria and home to Princess Diana, Princess of Wales between 1981 and 1997. One of the best loved features in the Gardens is the bronze statue of story-book character Peter Pan standing on a pedestal covered with climbing squirrels, rabbits and mice. A seven-mile Memorial Walk which goes through Hyde Park, Green Park and St James’s Park, opened in 2000. NOTE: Kensington Palace is undergoing a £12 million renovation project. During this time, from March 2010 until January 2012, you can visit The Enchanted Palace exhibition at the palace.
