1. What is Values Education and what is your philosophical understanding of the
human person in relation to his/her values? “This is not an important subject”. This is the common notion to us upon hearing Values Education. It simply talks about the behavior and the character of a person. However, as I contemplate in the video presentations, this subject will not only determine a kind of behavior that a person has but definitely their role as a citizen of this country and how human developed within the society. Values Education has driven people to become aware of their doings and mindful on the ethical principles. The two approaches to philosophical study of the human person which are the metaphysical and the existential approach. The metaphysical approach is a type of philosophical approach which focuses on the kind of substance or material and capacities that uniquely make up a human person. It examines the essential components of a human person and deals with the WHAT of a human person. While on the other hand, the existential approach is a type of philosophical approach which focuses on the kind of life, or mode of existence that is unique to a human person. It examines the essential features of the human way of life and dealing with the WHO of a human person. Personally, I’m leaning in the so-called Existentialism. It helps me understand my position in the world and what it means to be alive. I got more receptive as time went on. It enables me to tackle life's concerns and embrace my freedom of choice.
2. According to Aristotle, why is man by nature a political animal? Explain.
As I analyze the sentence, I see that Aristotle referred to man as "nature," which implies something inherent, and "political animal," which refers to animals living in a community. As a result, the entire phrase indicates that it is a human nature to live together and establish a community that caters the good of everyone. In the video, it was stated that the purpose of our lives is to lead a good life, so the people are inclined to come together to form associations. In addition, on my analyzation, it is indeed that man cannot live alone. In order to exist, he/she must enter or involved in a relationship with their peers for them to live a better life.
