Dear Sir, Following clarification is received on the subject: Quote “in compliance with the provisions of DGCA CAR on AWO, deciding and adhering to Aerodrome Operating Minima is the responsibility of Airline Operator based on the facilities available. At present Runway centre line lights at Kolkata Airport are under NOTAM. Hence airlines may decide their Operating Minima accordingly and take approval from DGCA for LVTO below 400 M RVR as per para 5.2 of DGCA CAR on AWO. Approved minima may be informed to Kolkata ATC.” Unquote. In view of the above clarification, pilots will be permitted by Kolkata ATC for take-off operation below 400 M RVR, subject to the approval of their minima by DGCA for such operation and further subject to availability of required facilities. Therefore, pilots may communicate DGCA approval to Kolkata Tower when requesting for start up in such condition. You are therefore requested to inform all airlines operators in Kolkata accordingly and also advise them to communicate their approved minima to Kolkata ATC, as per the above quoted clarification.
