Javanese Language Should be Thought to Children

In my opinion, Javanese, as one of the oldest regional languages in Indonesia, must

be taught and passed down to children.

First, the Javanese language is a cultural heritage and national identity that we must
preserve. One thing we can do is to teach it to our future generations. In order to be
easily absorbed, Javanese should be taught from an early age to children. It can be
through their parents at home or through learning at school.

Second, the Javanese language is losing speakers. Gradually this language can be
completely extinct if it is not taught to the next generation. This is, of course, due to
the growing number of Indonesian youngsters who want to communicate with their
friends in Indonesian or foreign languages. This will not be an issue if the children of
the country are proud to speak Indonesian, but it will be a problem if the youngsters
choose foreign languages rather than their own regional languages. This is a sort of
cultural value loss. Whereas the Regional Language is a cultural asset that we must
protect. The trick is to maintain its existence.

Another reason why Javanese should be taught to children at a young age is to instill
a sense of patriotism in them. Create awareness among the next generation of the
nation that we have riches that other nations do not have and that we are capable of
properly maintaining it.

Javanese, like foreign languages, may be an exclusive learning medium. Because

this language has a rather high level of difficulty. Introducing Javanese as a school
subject is a kind of Javanese literacy for children. This is critical so that children
become familiar with using it, at least during class. Well, over time we can bring
Javanese as our daily language in school after Indonesian.
