Instructions: Watch the video of Matanglawin entitled The Indigenous People of Mt.
Pinatubo and answer the question below

1. After watching the video, share your thoughts about it. Limit your answer in 3-5 sentences
only.

Answer: The Indigenous People of Mt. Pinatubo are the Aetas, being a hunters and gatherers
are the Aeta’s source of food primarily from the forest. Forest food, whether roasted, boiled
or eaten raw is key to their diet. The prominent values of Aetas are sharing, trust in God and
determination. The string and arrows symbolized their practical philosophy and open-
mindedness. The Aetas believe that evil spirits are the usual cause of illness. They still
practice the ritual called kagon, a form of spirit healing performed with dance, song, and
guitar music to exorcise the dimonyo from ailing individuals.

1. Base on different ethnic groups discussed on this module, choose two groups out of it and
give the stereotypes you have heard about them.

Answer: Ilonggo and Ati.

-The Hiligaynon people or Panayon people are a Visayan ethnic group whose primary
language is Hiligaynon, Ilonggos are known to be malambing (gentle) that is the quality that
most of the people love about languages.
2. In relation to question number one, what can you say with regards to this persisting
stereotyping in our country?

3. Explain how does metamorphosis of cultural identity occurs?
