We would like to offer you the service and technological context so that you can start benefiting right
away with an effective way to learn that is integrated to your life and your times. For this reason, we
are sharing this guide with you, in which you will find all the details you need to follow your chosen
course.

The guide features an index containing all the key points related to your course, and is designed as a
reference that you can check whenever you have a doubt or don't know how to solve a specific issue.

If you don't find an answer to your question, refer to the Service Center, select 'Are you having a
problems with the course?' and write your query in the text box. We will be in touch with you shortly
in order to give you the support you need.

1. Important notes about our
academic model
Program Typologies
At Barça Innovation Hub – Universitas, we offer different types of online programs, which
depending on their duration are called either Courses (which have a recommended duration of 1
month) or Certificates (which last 4 months).

In the case of the online programs, our academic model is designed so that you can count on
adequate support, sufficient context and the right activities you need to effectively acquire and
develop skills.

This means that the duration of our programs (either 1 month or 4 months) has a service structure
defined by the following elements:

 Online expert.

 Collaborative activities.

 Forums/activities and discussions.

The duration of our programs (at the level of content as well as the subject matter covered and
associated services) is designed to maximize the impact on your skills, establishing activities and
incentives throughout the course.
Focus on Skills (1)

The program you are about to start has been designed on an innovative academic model, chosen for
Barça Innovation Hub – Universitas with the aim of obtaining the desired impact, which is focused
on the strengthening and acquisition of skills. This means that:

 Based on the academic model and course contents, we intend to give an effective
response to a context which demands new abilities and approaches.

 It is originated in the interaction of a proven and solid methodology with the creation of
contents by experts that are well-known in their specific fields of action.

 It also involves cognitive processes, and as it is skill-oriented, the dimension of time as the
main factor is discarded and it is centered on the results obtained.

The MAC© Model
The adopted 'skill-based learning model' recognizes, and consequently develops, two types of skills:

 General Skills: these are linked to the behaviors and working attitudes related to
different areas of production, such as the capacity to work in groups, negotiation and
planning, among others.

 Specific Skills: these are related to the technical aspects directly linked with the
profession, and which are not easily transferred to other working contexts.

Examples: formulation of infrastructure projects, management knowledge focused on a particular


business, etc.

Impacted Skills
The generic skills included in our design and that are developed in our courses are as follows:

 Collaborative Work: throughout the course, we give you the option to develop various
planned activities with other program participants, enriching the work with different
perspectives and approaches.

 Capacity for analysis/reflection as well as critical thought: through the analysis of


one's own learning process and corresponding self-assessment.

 Creativity and innovative solutions based on knowledge: through the construction of


group and individual proposals that respond to a topic, problem, and which present
alternatives or action plans.

All of these objectives are obtained by implementing different learning elements which are a key
piece of the program you are about to start, and that we will describe throughout this document.
2. How to access your
courses?
How to access your courses?
In order to access your course, you must enter http://barcainnovationhub.com/ Once on the page,
please click on "LOG IN”:

In the pop up window that appears when pressing 'Log In', you must log in using the same method
you defined when making your payment, whether via user/password or Facebook:
Once you have logged in, the following menu will pop up on the upper right corner of the page:

By clicking on "My Courses", you will be able to see all the programs you acquired, with the
corresponding starting dates and two options:
 "See content": here you will be able to view in detail the courses that make up your
Certificate. If it is a one-month Course, this option will not be available.

 "Go to Class": when clicking, you will be immediately directed to the course platform.

It's important to keep in mind that when clicking on "Go to Class", there are two options that may
occur:
 If you try to access before the classes' start date, the content of the program will not be
enabled (it will be available on the date indicated in the welcome e-mail you’ve already
received) and you will be directed to an informative page.

 If you try to access on the expected start date or on any date thereafter, you will be directed
to the course platform.

Important: Please always check the date of each course, as during those dates you will have the
associated structure of services (see the 'Program Typologies' section).
3. Account configuration
Profile
In order to easily and rapidly configure your profile within the course program, log into "Account",
which appears on the left panel:
Then, click on the "Settings" option:

In order to make changes, you must go to the "Edit Settings" option, which appears on the right-
side margin of the screen. You will find the following configuration options:
Profile picture: by clicking on the space provided for your picture, you can add a profile picture:
There are three options for uploading your picture:

 You can choose an existing image from your device.

 You can take a new picture from your device.

 If you have a Gravatar account (Globally Recognized Avatar, www.gravatar.com), you can
select it from there using the corresponding option.

Complete name: as you would like it to appear in your final Certificate; pay attention as the name
that you write down here will appear as-is in your Certificate and you will not be able to change it.

Display name: how you would like to be seen in the course platform (in the Discussions forums,
messages, etc.)

Language: it the platform allows to change the general language, but not the study material`s
language. In case you need to modify the study material`s language you must go to the Service
Center and request it.

Time zone: you will be able to personalize some basic service settings based on your time zone.

Once you have finished, remember to save these configurations by clicking on "Update Settings" so
that the changes made are stored in your account.
Contact Methods
When you enter Barça Innovation Hub – Universitas, our aim is for your learning experience to
form part of your daily life. In order to do so, it's essential that you provide us with an e-mail address
that you check frequently and that you make sure it is configured on your favorite and most
frequently-used devices.

Although by default all the communication will be sent to the e-mail provided when you registered,
you can add an additional address.

Click on "Email address", located in the screen's right sidebar:

Enter your address and click on "Register e-mail address". An e-mail will be sent to that e-mail
address under the name of “Instructure Canvas” (not “Barça Innovation Hub – Universitas”)
containing a link that you will have to click in order to confirm this step. If you don't see the e-mail
address in your Inbox, please check the spam or junk mail folder.
Associated Services
In order to integrate your learning experiences with your daily habits, the platform allows you to
connect with other widely-used Internet services, some of which you may already use:

These services can be especially useful to facilitate your interaction with other participants, share
relevant content or just socialize. If you would like to display any of your web services registered in
your profile page, click on the box that says "Allow members of the courses and groups in which I
participate to see the services linked to my profile".
Notifications
Notifications are another key aspect for your learning experience to be effective. The notifications
will send you an alert (via the methods you choose for the events you choose) whenever there are
news, changes or important communications related to your program of study.

In order to configure your notifications, click on the "Notifications" button (within the "Account"
section). There you will find a dashboard where you can define which notifications you would like to
receive and how frequently:

Next to each event, you will find icons, which have the following meanings:

When you select this icon, we will let you know about news or updates as soon as they arise..

If you select this icon, we will send you a daily summary containing all the news.

In this case, we will send you a weekly summary.

Finally, if click on the "X", you will not receive any notifications.

Keep in mind that you will be able to modify these options as many times as it you wish throughout
the course.
Moreover, you can directly access the course calendar of activities and due dates. To do so, please
select "Calendar", which is located on the screen's left navigation bar:

Activities
A crucial aspect of your Barça Innovation Hub – Universitas experience has to do with the support
that our Experts team will provide you during your learning experience, which — together with the
learning elements and planned evaluations — comprises the heart of our activity.
Contact Methods within the Platform
Contact with Online Experts takes place within the platform, especially via messages and the
Discussions forum:

 Messenger: in the navigation bar that appears on the left of the screen, you will see
the "Inbox" option, from which you will be able to send and receive messages from
your instructors and fellow students.

 Discussions forum: refer to the following section.


Participation in the Discussions forums
In order to access the forums, which are always located on the left sidebar, chose "Courses" and
then the "Discussions" option. Once you are there, select the activity corresponding to the
Discussions forum and click on "Reply", as you'll see below:

The text editor will be enabled so that you can make your contribution. Once you have finished, click
on "Post Reply" so that it is correctly entered into the system:
Taking Quizzes and Exams
In order to take a quiz or exam, always within '"Courses", select the one you would like to take, as
you'll see below:
The screen that appears next will have a header with the details regarding the test you are about to
take. Once you have read those details, click on "Take the Quiz":
There, the platform will show you the questions you must answer. It's a good idea to click frequently
on the icon that appears to the left of the question, so as to save your progress. To respond to the
following question, click on "Next". To finalize and submit the quiz, click on "Submit Quiz”:

While you are taking the test, you can change your answers as many times as you wish.

Keep in mind that once you decide to submit the quiz, you won't be able to undo and the content of
your responses will be considered final.
4. How our programs are
structured
How our programs are structured
In the Barça Innovation Hub – Universitas platform, we have different program typologies, each of
them with different impacts and designed with different objectives in mind. For the online format,
we offer two typologies: 'Courses' and 'Certificates', where the length and depth of the topics
covered make for a substantial difference between the two.

Our Courses have a suggested duration of one month (taking into account the daily assignment of
1.5 hours of work). On the hand, each Certificate is made up of 4 courses.

During a Course (by itself or as part of a larger program) you must study and apply different learning
elements distributed in 4 modules within the Course.

Each of these learning elements is designed to motivate and facilitate the acquisition of the
instruments, concepts and tools offered by your chosen program:

 Readings, videos and course outlines.

 Self-assessments for each module.

 Teaching method chosen by the instructor for each course module.

 Discussion forums and activities corresponding to each module in which your


participation impacts your final course grade.

 Scoring rubric for each module

 Final course exam, consisting of 20 questions and an option for one re-take.

Within the 'Courses' option, you will be able to access each of these elements:

Participation and approval criteria
To take full advantage of the learning experience, we recommend you to:

 Take the self-assessment diagnostic.

 See the multimedia content (readings, videos and work guidelines) of each one of the four
modules that make up a course.

 Take the self- assessment tests of each module.

 Use the forum as a space for questions and work with your classmates.

 Perform the learning activities of each module.

 Take and pass the final exam.

To approve a course (one month of duration), you have to:

• Deliver the 4 activities of the course.

• Take and pass the final exam.

The final grade of the course is an average between the grades obtained in the activities and the
grade of the final exam. The final grade must be equal to or greater than 70%.

To approve a certificate (4 months of duration), you must pass all the 4 courses with a grade
equal to or greater than 70% and then take the verified approval exam, which has to be approved
with a grade equal to or greater than 70%.

Considerations in the grading

If you do not reach, for a minimum percentage, the required grade to approve a course, you can
receive an adjustment in the qualification (only if the Online Expert proves that you had effectively
acquired the required skills). This adjustment will be conditioned by your past performance in the
learning platform, as long as the fulfillment of the conditions of participation of the course
previously exposed.
Certificates
All certificates offered by Barça Innovation Hub - Universitas are issued after verifying,
contemplating and ensuring that the key competences have been acquired, according to the
following details:

Programs of 1-month duration

• You will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the course.

• You will receive a verified certificate of approval subject to a prior identity


validation process, where you will only need an Internet connection, a standard
web camera and your personal identification. To go through this process, you must
have approved your course with a grade equal to or greater than 70 percent.

Programs of 4-month duration

• You will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the course of each of
the courses.

• You will receive a verified certificate of approval subject to a prior identity


validation process, where you will only need an Internet connection, a standard
webcam and your personal identification. To go through this process, you must
have approved all 4 courses with a grade equal to or greater than 70 percent.

The certificates will be available in digital format (PDF format) once you have finished your program.
Due to the online nature of the programs, we do not print or send certificates by mail or any other
means, but they are available to be downloaded through the platform.
How to access your certificates
You can access and download your certificates of participation for each course once it has finished,
as shown below:

1. Go to http://www.barcainnovationhub.com

2. Log in with your username and password.

3. Go to the menu and click on MY COURSES.

4. Click on the VIEW CONTENT button to preload your certificates.

5. Go to the menu and click on MY CERTIFICATES, where you will find the certificates available to be
downloaded.
Refund policy
In case you cannot continue with your course, or if you wish to postpone the start date of your
course, Barça Innovation Hub - Universitas offers you the possibility to contact the Online Expert or
write to the Service Center and request to pause your course until you can resume or reprogram
your start.

Both options will be valid for a period of 12 months. While your course is paused, no new charges
will be implemented and you will not reimburse what has already been paid.

If, for any other reason, you have doubts about continuing, we suggest you contact your Expert or
write to the Service Center, so that we can help you with your doubts and guide you in your decision.

Any change resulting from this interaction will be subject to review and approval by the Expert.

The 100% of the payment will be refunded if such refund is requested up to 24 hours before the
start date of the acquired program, or if, for some reason, the program cannot be delivered on the
agreed date.

Re-registration
In case you have not approved 1 or 2 of the courses that make up your program, you will have
access to a re-enrollment to complete the courses that were pending and thus complete your
training process. This re-enrollment has a cost that will depend on whether it is 1 or 2 courses that
you must do again. This request must be made to your Expert or through the Service Center.

The established conditions could be modified at any time, based on the organization's own criteria.
These modifications will be informed by the communication channels enabled.

In order to optimize your learning experience, at Barça Innovation Hub – Universitas, we
recommend that you have the following configuration in mind for the computer or device you will be
using throughout your course:

System requirements:

 Operating System: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 (SP2, 32 – O 64 Bit); Mac OS 10.10, OS 10.10,


10.11, 10.12 - Any version (10.10.x)
 Browser: Internet Explorer or Safari
 Required Plug-Ins: Latest version of Adobe Flash Player or Quicktime
 Date and time: Must be accurate for your local time zone
 Connection Speed: Must have at least 200kb/s (2mb/s) upload speed
 Others: Webcam and Microphone

Requirements for mobile devices and tablets:

 Android 4.0 or higher

Service center: how it works and how to
access
While taking the course, or in any moment that you need it, Barça Innovation Hub – Universitas
features a "Service center", where our team will be able to help you with any problem you may have.

You can access it two different ways: from the course platform or the Barça Innovation Hub –
Universitas website.

From the course platform:

If you are interacting with the study material or with any other learning element, press "Help", on the
lower left corner of the screen.
From Barça Innovation Hub – Universitas website:

If you are not completing any academic activity, you can enter the Service Center from the Barça
Innovation Hub – Universitas web page that appears at the bottom:

Three options will pop up, regardless of how you access. Choose the option that corresponds to
your need:

"Are you having a problem with the course?": in order to submit your query/problem you must
be logged in and must also be a participant in one of our programs.

"Are you having a problem with your purchase?": in this case you must be a registered user, but
not necessarily a participant.

"Or is this in regard to another query?": this option is open to any query you may have.
The conditions established in this document could be modified at any time, based on organization's
own criteria. These modifications will be informed by the communication channels enabled.
