What is Non-Verbal

Communication?

Non Verbal communication is


communication without the use
of spoken language.
Nonverbal communication is the
single most powerful form of
communication. It includes: facial
expression to body language,
gestures, signs, use of space and
pace of information delivery.
Non-verbal communication occurs
without using any oral or written
word.
Instead of written or oral words, it
relies on various non-verbal cues
like physical movements, tasks,
colors, signs, symbols, signals charts
etc. to express feelings, attitudes or
information.

Types of Non-Verbal
Communication
 Kinesics - (Body Language) Body
language is a type of nonverbal
communication in which physical
behaviors, as opposed to words, are
used to express or convey
information. Such behavior includes
facial expressions, body posture,
gestures, eye movement, touch and
the use of space.
 Proxemics (Distance) – Proxemics is
the study of human use of space and the
effects that population density has on
behaviour, communication, and social
interaction. The personal zone is used
with co-workers
 Paralanguage
• Haptics
• Chronemics
• Oculesics
• Graphics
• Artefacts
• Dress
