Honduras Gastronomy.

Honduran cousine is very cariede because it’s influenced by pre-columbian indigenous


elements, spanish, creole and to some extent also african falvors, as is the case thoughout the
Central American Antlantic coast.

The gastornomy of Honduras is divided into 4 regions and we will mention some departments:

1. Honduras gastronomy in the northen zone.

 Atlantida:

 Meals: Seafood soup, cazuela, corn fritters, meatball soup, crab soup,
roast beef, fried marzipan, baleadas, fried fish wiht plantain slices,
beef and chicken cakes, fried, warm and boiled eggs, fish soup, chicken
pie and fried beans, Ayote in honey, papaya Candy, etc...

 Drinks: Horchata, natural soft drinks, guifiti, etc...

2. Honduras gastronomy in the central zone.

 Comayagua:

 Meals: Stuffed bear spleen, sopa de olla, been soup with meat an
Green guineo, nacatamales, eggs in cake, fried porkan beef, roasted
chorizo, etc...

 Drinks: Fresh soursop, fresh blackberry, yellow corn pozol, corn soda,
orange wine, etc…

3. Hondura gastronomy in the southern zone.

 Valle:

 Meals: Curry coctail, meatball soup, dried fish cake, stuffed crab, corn
tamalitos, fish augmented, etc…

 Drinks: Hill fresh, chicha, milk with pinol, pozol, etc…

4. Gastronomy of western Honduran.

 Copán:

 Meals: Baked pork, grilled fish, capirotadas soup, Pacayas,


enhuevadas, choras, marinated beef, chanfaina, tortas de pescado
salado, etc…

 Drinks: Chiricaya, ponche infernal, chilate, atol de maicena, mistela,


etc…

Important people of Honduras.

1. José Francisco Morazán Quezada (Tegucigalpa, October 3, 1792 - San José, Costa
Rica, September 15, 1842) was a military man and politician who governed the
Federal Republic of Central America during the turbulent period from 1827 to
1842. He was known as the Central American Paladin.

2. Berta Isabel Cáceres Flores (March 4, 19711-La Esperanza, March 2, 2016) was a
Lenca indigenous leader,34 feminist, and Honduran environmental activist.534

She co-founded COPINH to fight for Lenca rights and won the Goldman
Environmental Prize,34 "the world's highest award for environmental activists."

3. Blanca Jeannette Kawas Fernández (Tela, Honduras, January 16, 1946 - ibidem,
February 6, 1995) was a Honduran environmental activist, known for her role in
the rescue of more than 400 species of flora and fauna of Honduras during her last
years until her assassination.1 Jeanette Kawas National Park is named in her
memory.

4. Ramón Amaya Amador (Olanchito, Yoro; 29 de abril de 1916-Bratislava,


Checoslovaquia (actual a Eslovaquia); 24 de noviembre de 1966) fue un escritor y
periodista hondureño más conocido por su novela Prisión Verde (1945).

5. Father José Trinidad Reyes y Sevilla (June 11, 1797 - September 20, 1855) is one of
the heroes of Honduras, founder of the first center of higher education in
Honduras, the "Sociedad del Genio Emprendedor y del Buen Gusto", which later
became the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras and of which he was the
first rector.

6. Traditionally called Lempira (¿1499? - 1537) although his name was "Erandique"
(according to the "Probanza de Méritos" written by Rodrigo Ruíz) he was a war
captain and leader of the Lenca people who fought against the Spanish during the
1530's. In the documents written during the Spanish conquest, he is mentioned
with the name of El Lempira.
