What I Need to Know

Philippines is the world’s second largest archipelago.With this, it is also one of


the World’s Biologically Richest Countries. Endemic species,or species only found in
the Philippines remain mainly because of the country’s tropical climate and abundant
rainforest.Philippines is the home for most distinct creatures of the Earth.

The continuously rising population,gives the high demand for the usage of the
natural resources.Continous usage of these resources,threatened some of the
country’s species of plants and animals.With this,Philippines is now considered as
one of the “Biodiversity Hotspots”. Biodiversity Hotspots refers to 25 biologically
rich areas around the world that have lost at least 70% of their original habitat.

In this module you learn about the causes of species extinction.It will also help
to learn the effects of the extinction certain species of plants and animals.This will
also aid you to devise your own way of saving the natural resources.

For the facilitator:


As the facilitator of this module, it is your responsibility to provide learners with
the clear instructions on how to accomplish each activities.Facilitator also needs to
be open for questions coming from the learner.Facilitating this module needs to be
execute with love,patients and understanding to be able to show sensitivity to
learner’s needs.It is also advised that learner should use separate sheets in
answering the activities.
