WEEK/TONIC 24

TOPIC: THE MYSTERY OF THE TRINITY

TEXT: JOHN 16:12-15
OBJECTIVE: To arouse the mind of believers on the concept of Trinity and its relevance to
Christian faith.

INTRODUCTION
The Scripture is very explicit on the truth that God is one, existing in three Persons or three
distinct personalities: God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The study of the
oneness of God must aways be in connection with the trinity. The Apostle Paul states thus, for
in God dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and you are complete in Him who is the
head of all principalities and powers (Colossians 2:9-10). There is one God manifested in three
person but indivisible, performing divine roles as contained in (John 16:12-14). These three are
spoken of as co-eternal, co-existing in power, majesty and glory.

POINTS FOR CONVERSATION

1. As believers, discuss the role of the Trinity in the finished work of Salvation. (Romans 1:20,
Colossians 2:9-10).
2. Looking at the following bible passages, identify the synergy of action in Trinity. (1 John 5:7,
Genesis 1:26, John 1:1).
3. God's revelation of himself in the scripture is "One God in three persons. Elucidate further on
this revelation. (John 16: 14-16, Genesis 1:26, John 1:14).

CONCLUSION
Our God is revealed as triune in nature and being. From Genesis to revelation, whether it be by
pattern or created things, scripture shows consistently without any ambiguity that God is
revealed as one in three persons, blessed Trinity. Hence we should submit ourselves to know
more of Him as He reveals himself to us afresh.

MEMORY VERSE: Matt. 28:10 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”.

ACTION POINT: Be poised to have an in-depth revelation of the Godhead for your salvation.
