1.0 TITLE: LEAVE ARRANGEMENT
2.0 PURPOSE:
2.1 Toestablish policy and procedures for the following Leaves such as: Hajj Leave
(Article 114), Marriage Leave (Article 113), Maternity Article 151[Saudi labor law),
Paternity Leave (Article 113), Examination Leave (Article 115) and Accompany
Leave, Demise, in accordance with the Saudi Labor Law.

6.1 Mohammad Dossary Hospital will grant the leaves specified in this policy, with
ay, to eligible employees, in accordance with Article 159 of the Saudi Labor
Law, the relevant policies of MDH and the staffing requirements of the affected
department,

Eid Adha’
7.1.2.1 Employees are entitled for 4 days starting from the day of Arfaa’
according to Umm Al-Qura calendar.
National day:
7.1.3.1 Employees are eligible for 1 day.
7.1.3.2 If one of the Public Holidays falls on the weekly rest days,
The leave will be extended accordingly.
Haj Leave’
7.1.4.4 Muslim employees, who have served at MDH for a minimum of
two (2) consecutive years of service, will be entitled to a paid
leave of 10 days including Eid Adha Holidays, to perform Hajj
starting from the 5" of the Hijra month of Dhul-Hijah.
7.1.4.2 Leave to perform Haj will be granted only once during the entire
service period
7.1.4.3 Will be requested 30 days prior to the start of the leave, along
with the hajj permit.
Marriage Leave:
7.1.5.1 All employees who will get married may request five (5) days
paid leave for the purpose of attending his/her marriage
ceremonies,
7.1.8.2 Marriage leave will not be approved not until the employee will
provide a copy of his/her marriage contract/certificate.
Paternity Leave:
7.1.6.1 Male employees may be eligible for 3 days when a child is born
to his wife in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
7.1.6.2 Such leave should be scheduled with 2 weeks working days of
the actual birth of the child.
7.1.6.3 Paternity leave will not be approved not until the employee will
submit a copy of birth certificate of the new born baby to Human
Resources Department.

Maternity Leave:
7.1.7.1MDH discourages the employment of female candidates who
are prospects for pregnancy.
7.1.7.2MDH discourages nurses from engaging in such experience
which could affect the conditions of their employment with the
hospital.
7.1.7.3 Should this become unavoidable, the maternity leave authorized
by the hospital is as follows:
7.1.7.3.1 Incase of giving birth, contracting female employees
will be eligible for 70 days (four weeks before
delivery and six weeks after) based on the tentative
delivery date to be determined by hospital doctor.
7.1.7.3.2 Employee who enjoyed full maternity leave payment
is not eligible for annual leave within a maximum,
period of 6 months.
Academic/Examination Leave (for Saudi Employees only):
7.1.8.1No examination leave will be processed unless the employee
gets approval to continue their study from MDH.
7.1.8.2 Employee who is continuing their study shall be granted a leave
with full pay for the actual examination period, provided that they
present the schedules of examination indicating their name, the
actual subjects and the actual examination dates.
7.1.8.3Employee will be required to submit to Human recourses
department the result of their examination one month after the
examination. Also, in case the examination leave was approved,
and the employee did not take the examination as scheduled or
the employee took the examination but did not submit the result
of the examination, the following will be given to the employee
in coordination with their department.
7.1.8.3.1The examination leave period will be changed to
unpaid leave and the paid leave will be deducted from
the employee's salary entitlement.
7.1.8.3.2 Written corrective action.

7.1.8.4 Employee can request annual leave in addition or in between
the examination leave.
7.1.8.51n case of employee who has to re-take examination, the
examination leave period will be considered as unpaid leave.

MDH grants full days for formal education programs, which are
approved by the Hospital Administration
Doctors with one-year service shall be granted a study leave
for a maximum of three (3) days per Gregorian calendar year
which starts in Jan. and ends in December.
Study leave days shall be availed in the same calendar year
without having the right to claim or accumulate un-availed
days.
Study leave application should be approved by the
Department Head, the Medical Director, the HR Director and
the Executive Director General prior to any arrangement.
Doctors will shoulder all expenses during a study leave
The plan for study leave should be integrated in the annual
Training & Education Plan for Medical Staff, which is
submitted with the Medical Director's approval to the HR
Department every January.
Leave request with the Medical Director's approval should be
submitted to the HR Department at least one (1) month before
the leave will commence.
Training information (location, time, duration and topic) shall
be provided prior to approval
Confirmation of attendance (certificate) to be submitted
immediately after the training/educational activity. In the event
of incomplete documents, the leave will be considered as
unpaid leave.
Each year, the study leave for administration and technical
staff will be according to the approved training plan.

The period of Accompany Leave to be a maximum of 10 days
per year consecutive or intermittent leave.
The patient should be the parents, husband, wife or children
of the employee.
The employee must bring a document as a proof that they
accompany the patient whether in private or governmental
hospital.
The employee is not allowed to carry over the unused days of
the Accompany Leave or apply for any compensation if not
utilized during the year.
The employee must notify in writing the department head prior
to escorting their patient.
‘The MDH management has the right to accept or reject the
Accompany Leave
7.1.11 Annual Leave:

Employees are entitled to enjoy annual vacation with full pay
for each year of their employment in accordance with what the
hospital management may decide and agree upon in the
employment contracts, provided that such vacation shall not
be less than what is provided for under the Saudi Labor and
Workmen Law. (Refer to APP-HR17-01),
7.1.12 Emergency Leave:
7.1.12.1
All MDH employees are eligible for unpaid emergency leave
of up to 10 calendar days per contract year.
7.1.12.1.1 The employee shall apply for emergency Leave
only upon urgent -—_ situation or
Compelling circumstances. If the employee
exhaust more than 10 calendar days the additional
days will be deducted from the annual leave.
7.1.12.1.2 The emergency leave policy is intended to permit
a human response to true emergency situations

when it becomes clear that an application is
motivated by other than genuine emergency.
7.1.12.1.3 An employee may be granted compassionate
leave in the event of a disaster, such as, severe
flood, fire, etc., resulting in his/her residence being
damaged wholly or partially that he/she has to seek
shelter elsewhere. The leave may be up to a
maximum of 10 consecutive days depending on
the circumstances of each case
7.1.12.1.4 Upon return from any emergency leave, the
employee will be required to submit appropriate
documents authenticated by Saudi Embassy or
attested by local government authority, clarifying
that an actual emergency existed.
7.1.13 Sick Leave
7.1.13.1 Employee whose sickness is proved by a medical certificate
issued by the treating doctor and approved by the Medical
Director is entitled to sick leave in accordance with article 117
of the Saudi Labor Law. (Refer to APP-HR17-02)
7.1.14 Demise leave:
7.1.14.1 For first degree (Father, Mother, Wife, Grandfather&
Grandmother) 5 days are granted.
7.1.14.2 Any other blood related relatives on is granted for 3 days
unpaid
7.1.14.3 Muslim Female employee: shall be entitled to a paid leave for
a minimum period of 4 months and 10 days from the date of
death of her husband and has the right to extend such leave
without pay if she is pregnant during the Demise period
7.1.14.4 Non-Muslim Female employee: shall be entitled to a full-paid
leave for a minimum period of 15 days from the date of death
of the husband.
7.1.15 Foundation day:
7.1.15.1 Employees are eligible for 1 day

7.1.16.2 If one of the Public Holidays falls on the weekly rest days,
the leave will be extended accordingly.
Special leaves will not be granted retroactively.
‘An employee scheduled for annual travel will have to complete his/her vacation
checkout list from Personnel Department.
Passport with a Saudi exit and re-entry visa and vacation benefits will be
handed over to the employee within 24 hours prior to his/her scheduled
departure date.
The duration of re-entry visa shall not exceed 10 days of the employee
approved arrival date.
Saudi multi re-entry visa will be issued only for Department Heads,
Consultants, and Specialists, or at the discretion of the Executive Director
General. Employee will bear all visa expenses.
There shall be no cash-in-lieu payments made for special leaves not utilized.
MDH does not allow grating of any leave without pay. However, any request
for any leave without pay for exceptional circumstances has to be approved by
