Attn: Regional Health Officers, Medical Superintendents, Senior Medical Officers, Surveillance Units

Based on the evolving epidemiological situation globally and in the America’s region regarding non-endemic
cases of an ACUTE SKIN RASH SYNDROME. Please be advised that all health care professionals at all
healthcare facilities are advised to be vigilant for any cases of the same which may appear, considering the same
to be infectious and to apply the necessary contact and droplet precautionary measures.

The acute skin rash may present with maculopapular (flat-based lesions) to vesicles (fluid-filled blisters), pustules,
and subsequent crusting affecting the face, the palms of the hand, the soles of the feet and the rest of the body.
The same may be accompanied with Headache, Acute onset of fever (>38.5°C), myalgia, back pain, asthenia,
and lymphadenopathy.

All identified cases with the aforementioned characteristics or similar should be reported immediately to
the Central Surveillance Unit, Ministry of Health.
