Mary Quant is a British designer, known throughout the world as the inventor of the

miniskirt.
She was born in Blackheath, a district of London, on February 11, 1934. As a young
woman she attended Blackheath High School and soon after she enrolled at Goldsmiths
College where she took courses in art education and illustration. Mary's parents
who had dreamed of a future for her as a teacher soon clashed with their daughter's
desire to become a stylist, a dream that was fully realized in a few years: in
fact, immediately after graduation, Mary began an internship with Erik, milliner
Mayfair luxury. At sixteen she decides to leave home to go to London. In 1955 Mary
and opened first boutique, located on Kings Road, in the Chelsea distric. The
innovstivr ideas of Quant became popular in the London of the Sixties. Mary Quant's
fortune is based above all on the ability to speak the language of her era, to
interpret and share the tastes of her own generation, and finally to bring out a
deep desire for emancipation. Two years after the birth of Bazaar, a second
boutique was opened on the aristocratic Brompton Road by almost everyone is
considered the inventor of the miniskirt, an item of clothing that became popular
among young people. the miniskirt made famous by the model Twiggy appears for the
first time.
