Format and guidelines for Project (15 Marks)

Write-up summarizing the environmental (issues) snapshot of your area. Wherever you are
right now/your hometown, prepare a brief report on environmental issues of your area –
water, sewerage, MSW, Air pollution, industry issues etc. -15 marks. The submission will be
through the MS Teams Course portal. The write-up needs to be crisp and to the point
focusing on possible solutions to the issues if any.

2. Arrangement of contents
i. Title page
ii. Abstract: The idea of the abstract is to provide a summary of the report. The reader
should be able to pick up from the abstract what the study entailed, how it was
undertaken and an indication of the major findings.
iii. Table of contents
iv. List of tables
v. List of figures
vi. List of symbols, abbreviations, and nomenclature
vii. References
3. Expected content of the report
The report should broadly cover the following aspects:
i. Introduction: Importance of the topic, brief description of the area you are covering
with maps, the application of the topic and an overview of the rest of the report
ii. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the environmental issues (as much as
available in reports on website, through phone calls. If situation allows you may
think of visiting the local municipal office for this as well)
iii. Any unique problem of your area in terms of environmental issues
iv. Measures taken by local government agencies in solving the environmental issues
v. Conclusion (with personal viewpoint, learnings, pros, and cons of the present
system along with personal recommendations)

Due Date: Jan 31st 2021 (submission online on MS Teams portal), will create the submission
link and share that with class.
