Important Notice on Undergraduate Admission 2022

Kind Attention: (10+2) passed out Students & their Parents/Guardians

Re: Admission in B.A. (Honours) Degree course in Bengali/ English/ Sanskrit/Pali/Ancient Indian and World
History/ Philosophy/Linguistics and in B.A (Honours) Shastri Course in Traditional Oriented Learning
(TOL) for this year (2022-23 Academic Session).

The erstwhile Sanskrit College in Kolkata was established on 01/01/1824 and it started functioning on and
from 25th of Feb., 1824 as the Second Higher Learning Institution under British Rule in India. Pandit Ishwar
Chandra Vidyasagar became the First Principal of this Sanskrit College in 1851 and many other luminaries studied
& taught in this Great Institute who in turn had significantly contributed towards Bengal Literacy- cultural and all
round social progress in the 19th Century which appeared as a whole as Renaissance in Bengal as well as in India .

This about 200 yrs Institution has been upgraded to University unitary in nature as per The Sanskrit
College and University Act XXXIII of 2015 of Government of West Bengal and is grooming to become a vibrant
place for study and research in the days ahead to fulfill the dreams of our great ancestors in order to bring purity and
perfection for betterment and peaceful existence of mankind.

Students who have successfully completed their HS (10+2) examinations and those expecting their results
in equivalent examination this year are advised to note that they can join this Institution through Centralized
Administration Process to be conducted by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal
along with most other Institutions of the State of West Bengal commencing from this year.

Therefore, interested students and their honorable parents/guardians are requested to visit on regular basis
website of Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal (Banglar Uchhsiksha) and also our
website www.sanskritcollegeanduniversity.ac.in as we shall upload relevant up-to-date information
concurrently with West Bengal Higher Education Department.

Students who have passed (10+2) in previous academic year (i.e. 2021) are also eligible for admission in
UG courses and a special relaxation may be given for admission to Traditional Oriented Learning (TOL)/Pali
courses for students qualified in academic year 2017 & onwards .

All the above subjects (except Pali) are available under Post graduate courses in this Institution where seat
reservations are available for existing Under Graduate students of The Sanskrit College and University as of now.

The Institute is located in the neighbourhood of University of Calcutta (Administrative building) and
Presidency University and it is at 1, Bankim Chatterjee Street, Kolkata – 700073 (Opposite College Street Coffee
House). This Institution is conveniently located both from Sealdah and Howrah Rly Stations and also there are 2
(two) nearby Metro stations , Central and M.G.Road ( Dakshineswar via Dumdum to New Garia Metro Route)
besides there are excellent on road connectivity by Bus/Auto and other small urban vehicles.
