India finished 48th in the medal tally, winning total 7 medal including on historic gold medal won by Neeraj Chopra in Javelin throw. Indeed, it is a moment of celebration but we should not get overjoyed by this. Because 7 out of 339 medals is just a start, which needs to be increased in future. If we look at medal tally, we can infer the reason why is not among top 10s or top3s. The winners of the list are developed nation which dedicate lots of resources in sporting industry. India also needs to cut down red-tapism in allotting resources to the sports. The requirements of athlete should be fulfilled on immediate basis. Every top ranker country sees every sport with equal perspective but in India many sports events like rowing, canoe, Aquatics, cycling, Gymnastics, golf are almost untouched that could have fetched more medals to India. China is among best performers. China used space technology to improve aerodynamics of its players. India can also learn from this, by incorporating technology in training routine we can improve training of our athlete by many folds. India needs more of great initiatives like “Khelo India Youth games, Let’s play etc. to encourage youth towards sports. Moreover, Indian players are among the best what they need is more encouragement and better facility and infrastructure so they can bring more medals to India.
