Solar PV Energy Generation of considering the Cell Output

The cell circuit

 PV- PV cell
 Load side- represents a current source, a diode and a resistor

2 incidents considered in the circuit

Open Circuit and Close Circuit condition

Closed circuit (Short Circuited) condition

The semiconductor current flows through out of the cell as Isc.

Open circuit condition

When no connection to the PV cell, the generated photon current will flow internally through
the Diode.

Output current to the load is

Isc – Id , when short circuited – (1)

Id – diode current

The diode current is obtained by the Shockley’s equation, given as,

Id = Io[ exp (qVd/ KT-1)] – (2)

 Io= Reverse Saturation Current through the diode

 q= charge of electron
 Vd = voltage across the diode
 K= Boltzmann constant
 T = Temperature at the junction

For Id, substitution of (1), brings the current voltage curve for the PV cell.
