●Step-by-step guide to create a Thesis Writing Report●

Good Day Sir Beñas this is our narrative report.
In this presentation, will discuss the step by step guide to create a thesis writing report.
Since writing a thesis is not a simple task, it takes time, energy and a lot of will power to get you
across in the finish line, your journey will be a lot smoother if you understand the process on
how to write a thesis.
1. Understand what a thesis is – a research project that follows the standard research process.
*What is the standard research process that needs to follow?
Research process - you are going to:
Step 1- Ask a meaningful research question/s
Stap 2- Carry out the research (both existing research and your own) and,
Step 3- Analyze the results to develop an answer to your original research question/s
*Basically, thesis is a formal piece of research, reflecting the standard research process. It’s not
a piece of opinion but it's about investigating something. And it involves asking a question and
taking a systematic approach to answering it.
The step 2 and 3, will explain each step:
Step 2- Find a unique (original) and important research topic
*The topic should be clear, unique and important.
When we say clear, it means it's clear like a crystal of what you want to know or what
you're planning to research
In terms of originality, your research should be asking a question that has not been
asked before or has not been asked in a specific industry or research field
And of course it should be important as it needs to make some form of contribution or
value either to research or industry.

Step 3- Craft a convincing thesis research proposal.

*I believe everyone of us already know that a Thesis is a requirement to gain an
academic degree, so every thesis has research proposal to convince your university,
advisor or committee that your research topic is worthy of approval.
Once your proposal have been approved, its time to get writing your actual thesis.
CHAPTER 1 PROBLEM AND REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Step 4- Write a clear, compelling introduction chapter
*The purpose of the introduction is to set the scene for your research so that the reader
understands what you’ll be researching and why it’s important. It's all about explaining the
“what” and the “why” of your research. In that way , you'll get them interested to read more.
Step 5- Undertake a thorough review of the existing research and write up a literature review -
foundation on which your own research is built
*In this chapter, you need to dig a lot deeper into the existing research that is related to your
topic.
There are two main stages in the literature review process:
1. Reading up - ensure that you cover all literature that is related to your core research
questions
*You just read and read and digest all the relevant literature, it is time consuming and a
demanding process so make sure you allocate a good amount of time for this.
2. Writing up - write up your literature review chapter
*Writing up is more than just a summary of the published research because:
You need to show how different pieces of theory fit together, what’s agreed on by researchers,
what’s not.
You also need to outline the problem so that your research topic can provide a solution.
And you need to use the existing research to inform what method you are going to use and
approach to your own research design.
Once you’ve completed your literature review and have a sound understanding of the existing
research, its time to develop your own research.
CHAPTER 2 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Step 6- Undertake your own research
*In this chapter, you will specifically design your research for you to find the answers to your
research question.
There are two steps here – designing your research strategy and executing on it:
1. Design your research strategy - you'll make decisions about how you’ll design your
own research, and you’ll need to describe or justify your decisions.
*This chapter is about explaining the “how” of your research.
If you recall, the introduction and literature review chapters discussed the “what” and
the “why”, so it makes sense that the next point to cover is the “how” and that’s what
the methodology is all about.
You need to describe or justify how you collected, analyzed, who or where you collected
your data.
Once you’ve worked out your research design, you’ll put it into action and start
collecting your data.
2. Execute - collect and analyze your data
*For you to collect and analyze your data, you need to undergo some interviews or
hosting an online survey or any other data collection method.
When designing your research for your methodology, it always depends on your topic
and your research questions.
Once you’ve completed your analysis, it’s time to present your findings.
CHAPTER 3 RESULT AND DISCUSSION
The presentation will show step 7 and its explanation.
Step 7- Present and interpret your findings - result and discussion
*In this chapter you will typically present your findings in two chapters – the results chapter and
the discussion chapter.
Differences are:
Result chapter - generally just presents the processed data neatly and clearly without
interpretation
*You will just present and describe each of the processes of your research findings.
Discussion chapter - explains the story the data are telling – in other words, it provides your
interpretation of the results.
*So you will explain it, you will elaborate and evaluate your research findings, you will situate
your research findings to your research questions through the use of your previous studies
which is your literature review. Your discussion should have an answer to your research
question, because you will also discuss how important your findings to the industry or to your
research area.
CHAPTER 4 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
This presentation will show the step 8. And the closing of the step-guide in creating a thesis
writing report and will introduce the basic thesis format of what to include in each sections for
additional information.
Step 8- Draw a conclusion, discuss the implications and recommendation
*Your conclusion is always based on your findings, so the implications or the effect, you will
explain what your findings mean for industry or for research in your area. Then discuss your
recommendations or suggested actions to be taken or for the people to follow when performing
future studies that is related to your topic.
After you've completed the chapter 1 to 4 of your research, all that’s typically left is the
abstract, reference list and appendices.
Abstract - summary of the whole thesis
References - list all the sources you've used in your research
Appendices - provide supplementary information to the main thesis
That's the step guidelines in writing a thesis report.
The presentation will show the basic thesis format and will explain what to input in each
sections of the format.
