American Care Labeling The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) care labeling rules require all garments for sale in the U.S. marketplace to have care instructions, including warnings, which detail a reasonable basis for care instruction. As of 2003, the standard (CAN/CGSB-86.1-2003) provides new symbols and a black and white color system for care instructions. Care labeling should be written as follows, according to AS/NZS 19571998. Itis comprised of eighteen member countries, GINETEX favors the current voluntary care labeling system for its flexible and simple to adapt to new technical and ecological developments or consumer practice. The care symbols are an international trademark owned by GINETEX, and registered with the World intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Symbols in the care label should follow 1SO 3758:2012 as described below. Label Format + The care symbols shall, when possible, be placed either directly on the garment or on the label, Otherwise, it is sufficient to indicate the care instructions on the packaging only. Ifcare symbols are on the label, the label shall be permanently affixed to the textile product such that they can be easily located and read by the consumer. The standard became effective since March 1, 2009 and replaces the original standard, which published in 1988. Based on ISO 3758:2005, GB/T 8685-2008 adopts most of the proposed changes included in 1SO 3758:2012. The new standard is regulated under the Household Products Quality Labeling law and will become effective on 1 December 2016. This new standard is written on the basis of and is harmonized with ISO care labeling code 1SO 3758:2012. The new standard JIS Loon: 2014 increases the number of care symbols from 22 (JIS Lo2r7:1995) to 41.
