Introduction

how ants follow what seem to be invisible trails leading to food

In this presentation we will took a look at animals’ communication
animal communication, process by which one animal provides
information that other animals can absorb into their decision making

Obtaining mate:
Animals will send signals to attract the attention of possible mates or to
strengthen the pairing relationship. These signals often involve the
display of body parts or postures
For example:-Spectacular courtship performance by Birds of Paradise.
-"Mating calls" in mammals can indicate a female's reproductive status
or attract other mates.

Food related signal:

Many animals make "food calls" to attract spouses, offspring, or other
members of social groups to food sources.
For example: ants leave traces of pheromone on the ground, and other
ants can follow it and lead them to food sources.

+Alarm call:
The alarm call communicated the threat of predators. This allows all
members of a social group (and sometimes other species) to respond
accordingly. This may include running to find cover, becoming immobile
or gathering together to reduce the risk of attack.

+ Caring for young .

In species that provide parental care for offspring, communication and
coordination of the behavior of parents and offspring to help ensure
that offspring can survive.
Triggering the mother to provide food, may also stimulate the
formation of parent-child relationship through the release of
hormones.
Ex: Seagull chicks hit the red dot on their parent’s beak

+Ownership/Territory:
Signals used to claim or defend territory, food, or spouse. It is believed
that males have evolved to keep distance from each other due to
higher reproductive consequences compared to females.
