1. Fill the blanks on the dialogue by listening to the audio on the meeting provided.
Manager : Good morning everyone. First of all, I would like to extend a warm welcome
to Jennifer, she is the sales and marketing supervisor.
Supervisor : Thanks for having me.
Manager : Let’s talk about today’s agenda. If it’s ok with everyone, I’d like to start with
the second point. Jennifer, can you please talk about the sales report?
Supervisor : Sure, Unfortunately I have to notify that our sales have decreased sharply
over the last of three months.
Manager : Thank you very much Jennifer. Now I want to get some ideas from
everybody. Think, we can all do as a team to improve sales?
Staff 1 : I feel that we have been focusing too much on younger customers. In my
opinion we need to focus our advertising on an older market, around 35-40
age group.
Staff 2 : I’m sorry, I didn’t catch that. Could you repeat that, please?
Staff 1 : I said that we need to focus our advertising on the 35-40 age group.
Staff 2 : Unfortunately, I see it differently. I think that we are not focused enough on
younger customers. Our advertising is not reaching the 25-34 age group, and
we need to update our advertising channels.
Manager : What do you think about this point, Jennifer?
Supervisor : That’s a great point about the wrong channels, however, I think we need to
focus more on our older customers.
Manager : Is there anything else anyone would like to add?
Staff 1 : I understand, are you willing to compromise? We can try the same marketing
campaign we have been using for the younger group, but instead target it at
the 35-40 age group. We can test that and see what result we get.
Staff 2 : That sounds like a great idea.
Manager : Great. Well I’m afraid we have run out of time for today. Before we go, let
me summarize what we have decided on. We should update our advertising
channels by reachig the 25-34 age group to increase sales up. Let’s focus our
attention on completing the campaign in two weeks. Jennifer, would you
mind taking care of setting up the new marketing campaign by Monday?

A meeting is a gathering of two or more persons,where there is a discussion of specific

1.Face to face : A meeting is a meeting of two or more people to decide a goal at a
predetermined place and offline
2.Virtual meet : An activity in which meeting participants from various locations gather
in a meeting whose time has been agreed in advance using media such as teleconference
or video.
c. Why do they need to update their advertising channels?
To attract the attention of more people to buy the product, advertising is needed and
updates are needed to get a positive response from consumers
d. Have the sales decreased or increased over last of three months? Why?
Sales have decreased sharply over the last of three months,because sales focusing too
much on younger customers and doesn't enough reach any age group
e. What a great idea would they test?
Great idea from dialogue,Try the same marketing campaign we have been using for the
younger group, but instead target it at the 35-40 age group.

1. What did you know about virtual meeting?
 an activity in which meeting participants from various locations gather in a meeting
whose time has been agreed in advance using media such as teleconference or video.
2. How will distinguish between virtual and a face to face business meeting (offline)?
 If a virtual business uses the internet and video media to communicate in meetings and
market products, while face-to-face business is a business that carries out direct activities
in the field, starting from meetings, sales, and observations.
3. Which one is more effective? Why?
 Face to face business is more effective than virtual business because face-to-face
businesses can be more detailed in carrying out their duties in the field and in face-to-face
business meetings can immediately make decisions quickly for business progress
4. Why should you be aware of language barriers during the meeting?
 because language is important in uniting businesses with other businesses to realize a
clean business and can work well together between entrepreneurs
