Student Selection Process


Humanities

The student selection process for SoSE-Humanities will be conducted through 1 written exam
which will be divided into 2 parts as described below:

(The information shared below is tentative in nature, & is meant as guidance for students to
prepare for the entrance test)

Part 1: Written MCQ Test


Students will attempt a written multiple-choice question (MCQ) paper comprising 3 sections.

The MCQ Test questions will be divided into 4 sections as follows:

i. Reading Comprehension
Unseen Passages, which will test Critical Thinking Ability through MCQ’s (Multiple
Choice Questions)

ii. Data Interpretation


Graph Analysis:
Case studies where graphs are used and interpretation of data using different
representations to draw meaningful inferences
The topics could be from Economics, History & Geography, Livelihood, Market
Consumption, Temperature, Sea levels

iii. Logical Reasoning


Verbal, numerical, and nonverbal reasoning-based questions to understand student’s
ability to reason with a variety of prompts and situations.

iv. Domain Based Questions


MCQs based on the syllabus of History, Geography & Civics from classes 6-8
(NCERT)
Part 2: Writing Test
Part 2 will focus on students’ ability to write a structured essay on a given topic.

*All students appearing for the written exam will attempt part 2. However, Part 2 will
be assessed only for students who score above a certain cut-off in Part 1 set by the
assessment authority.
