The Youth of Today

Dr. Jose Rizal said that, “Ang Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Ating Bayan”.
Meaning, the youth of today will be our future leaders of tomorrow.
But with the current situation that our country is facing today, the
global changes in the technology and social environmental factors,
youth of the present generation surely will become adults who are
markedly different from the adults who grew decades ago.
This social milieu substantially altered by globalization and rapid
changes in technology, places the youth in a virtually new world that
offers them little clues for effectively navigating it. It is no wonder then
why many parents and adults can easily misunderstand the youth. The
guideposts that parents have used in the past to successfully navigate
their way to adulthood may not entirely work now in a virtually new
world the youth are currently confronting.
These changes brought the youth to know a little about household
chores. Only the house helpers or their parents do the things for them.
Further, some do not engage themselves in any outdoor activities to
which most Filipino children before were used to. Typical Filipino
outdoor games were not introduced anymore even as part of the
school activities.
But despite all these changes that the youth are facing today brought
them to the world where they become more imaginative, persistent
and flexible to whatever changes the world has still to offer. They
maybe far different from the youth of decades ago, but still Filipino
blood runs the same in theirs. Filipino youth are innovative, creative,
imaginative and patriotic.
