The Magical Mirror

Read this story about a little girl who reaches a fantasy

world and helps the fairies out there-

“Lily, wake up!” Mom yelled.
“Just 5 more minutes, mom” Lily replied.
“You are getting late for school, get up!” Mom yelled again.
Lily finally woke up . She brushed her teeth, had her breakfast
and got ready for school. She was a blonde , cute 11 year old
girl. Her bus had arrived at the bus Stop. She boarded her bus
and took the first seat. Lily eagerly waited for her only best
friend, rowan. But when Rowan’s stop came, she was not
there. Lily was surprised as rowan was a regular student and
she hardly took any holidays! Lily overheard two girls talking in
the class that rowan was ill and she had taken leave for a
month. Lily had no friends besides rowan so she was
practically all alone in the class and bus.

Lily was not able to concentrate in the class and she got
scolded by many teachers. She was not in the mood of
having lunch so she went to the library to read some
books. She loved reading books about magic and
fantasies. Today, she had found a new book called
“Magical creatures”. As soon as she turned the pages,
she got lost into the book. The bell rang, and so she had
to borrow the book. Whenever, she got free time she
would read the book. She finished it before bedtime,
turned off the lights and went to sleep. Suddenly, some
light from the mirror appeared and lily reached an
unknown place. The place was very beautiful. Flowers
were blooming, butterflies were flying , there was a
beautiful rainbow and the weather was bright and sunny.
There was a crystal-clear Lake nearby. The water was
clean and colourful fishes were swimming and playing.
Lily had only seen these type of places in books and
movies but now she had reached there in real life

Suddenly, she felt something on her shoulder.
When she turned back, she saw a beautiful fairy
with crystal blue eyes and shiny wings. Everything
was similar to the book she had read.

“What is your name?” lily asked the fairy.

“I am shimmer, and you?” the fairy replied.
The fairy’s voice was sweet and soothing as
Sugar.
“I am lily. I don’t know how I have reached here!” lily
replied.
“I know everything. Come with me “shimmer said.
Shimmer fluttered her beautiful wings and waved
her wand. Soon, a beautiful heavenly house was in
front of lily’s eyes. The house was made on clouds
and there were angels playing harps and fairies
dancing on their tunes. Shimmer asked lily to take a
seat and started telling her everything.
“Lily Jones, we need your help! The trolls have
attacked us and our land of fairies is in danger! A
few years ago, we had “bendy the brave”. He was
a courageous prince who saved us from the trolls.
He was the ‘prince of golden barrows’ who had all
luxuries but still he wanted to erase poverty and
sorrow from his city. He left his home at the age of
14, to fight for his kingdom. We met him at the
golden barrows when we were looking for a warrior
who could fight for us! He tried his best to save us
but, he was tricked and killed by the trolls. His
magical sword is still stuck in a big rock. Only a
living being, with a pure heart can take out the
sword and help us fight the trolls. Before leaving his
kingdom, bendy took his guru- Saint Paul’s
blessings. Saint Paul blessed him with a magical
sword and a beautiful unicorn named starlight. The
sword has magical powers to hypnotize anyone, but
just for 10 seconds!! After bendy’s death, the
sword, by itself got stuck in bendy’s grave. We
need you to take it out, lily!! You have reached here
through a mirror that connects the real world to the
fantasy world. Our worlds are completely different .
Fantasy worlds are magical and beautiful but the
real world is full of cunning people who only think
about their own good. Only a person with a pure
heart, can take out bendy’s sword and help us deal
with the trolls.” Shimmer said.
“It’ll be great to help you out, shimmer. Friends?”
Lily asked.
“Sure.” Shimmer replied.
Shimmer waved her wand and they reached the
rock. Bendy’s sword was stuck in that rock. The
sword was very old but it was dazzling like new and
the hilt was made of pure gold. Many Fairies were
pulling it hard but the sword was not coming out.
Lily gently touched the sword and it came out
easily. Lily had inherited most of the characteristics
from her mother. She was sensitive, kind and calm
like her mother and hence was able to take out the
sword easily. The rock started breaking and a
unicorn came out. It was the prince’s unicorn,
starlight. The unicorn was cursed by the troll king
when bendy was killed. The unicorn was a
beautiful, rainbow- furred, lovely creature. Lily
boarded it and shimmer guided her to the trolls’
castle.

“We are ready for a war!” said shimmer.
“I think we should solve this problem through mutual
understanding and compromise” lily replied.
“It’s impossible! The trolls are extremely aggressive and
unhappy. They won’t understand. They attack us to get
our treasure ”Shimmer said.
“ I have a plan! Lily replied.
Lily whispered her plan in shimmer’s ears. Shimmer
liked her plan . Shimmer waved her wand and they
reached the troll king’s castle. They collected all
beautiful things, such as butterflies, flowers, seashells
and fruits on the way for the king.
“The king’s castle has three doors. We have to pass
through them to reach the king. The first door is
guarded by the goblins who trap you somehow. You
need to fight them to run away. They are green-
coloured, dirty and selfish creatures! The second door is
guarded by the pixies. You need to answer their riddle
to survive. They are very smart and dangerous indeed.
The last door is guarded by the leprechauns.
Leprechauns are nasty and humorous shoemakers. They
will try to trick you but you have to choose the right
options.” Shimmer said in a depressed voice.
“We can do it together! “Lily cheered shimmer.

They entered the first door. No one was there.
Suddenly, a trap made of branches came down and it
trapped shimmer and lily. The goblins came out
laughing. They looked hungry and weak. Lily had an
idea! She threw some fruits from the net. The goblins
attacked on them as they were hungry from years.
Meanwhile, lily tore the net through her sword and
both of them escaped from the first door.
Now, they entered the second door. The pixies waved
their wands and shimmer and lily were glued to the
ground. The pixies asked the riddle-
I can be all colours of the rainbow, Or
have no colour at all. Sometimes I’m
empty, Sometimes I’m full. What am
I?
Shimmer and lily were totally confused. ”Water?”
shimmer whispered.
“No! water can’t be empty or full. Lily replied
“Hmm”shimmer agreed.
“I know the answer! It’s glass!” lily shouted.
“Correct” The pixies answered.
Now, shimmer and lily were free. They ran away and
escaped the second door. There were three small doors
in front of them. One was red, one was blue and the
third one was green. The leprechauns tried their best to
confuse them. Lily closed her eyes and asked God to
guide her. The bag full of gifts for the king, accidentally
fall down from shimmer’s hands and the butterflies flew
to the blue door.
“The butterflies have guided us! We should go by the
blue door! ”lily said.
“Are you sure?” shimmer asked.
“Yes! Let’s do it” lily replied.
They crossed their fingers and entered the blue door.
Their choice was right! They had reached the king’s
court!
“Soldiers! Put these thieves into the prison!” the king
ordered.
“We are not thieves. Please forgive us. We want the
fairies and trolls to live together with love and peace".
The king ignored lily and took out his sword to fight. Lily
used bendy’s magic to hypnotize the king.
“Oh, mighty troll king! Don’t run behind money and
gold. Instead, look at the beauties of life that are
present in your kingdom!!” Lily said as she took out the
bag full of gifts for the king. When the king got normal,
he was fascinated to see the beautiful gifts! He had
never stepped out of his kingdom to look at these
beauties of life. He smiled and apologized for his
misdeeds and killing bendy for just a small box of
treasure. The fairies forgave him forgetting all the
mishaps between the two groups. The treasure was
divided into trolls and fairies.

The fairies thanked lily and gave her a beautiful garland
made of fresh flowers.
“Thanks everyone, but how will I go back home?” lily
asked.
“Through the magical mirror!” shimmer replied.
Shimmer waved her wand and the alarm rang. What?
Lily woke up and found out everything was a dream.
Shimmer, the trolls, magic, treasure nothing was real!
Lily shooked her head and started getting ready for
school.
