Project Narrative

Palm Buildings Project: Project lies in the 6 th October City, Consists of 9 buildings: 6 Buildings Type D composed of ground floor and first floor and pnt house. 3 Buildings Type B composed of ground floor and three floors and pnt house. And landscape works and Infra structure works. The 9 buildings are separated to 2 phases: 1- Phase one consists of 3 buildings type D and 3 buildings type B. 2- Phase two consists of 3 buildings type D. Our concern is the buildings work and the project is suppo sed to finish by August 2011. Work Logic: Work Started on 1 st of June 2010. Work will start in phase one by buildings 1 and four in same time. Masonry work will not start till the shuttering of roof floor is removed due to safety concern. Formwork cycle: Start with full form work for all times for building one then will move from item in building 1 to building No. 2 then Building No. 3 Then building No.7 Then Building No. 8 and finally building No.9 as in fig. 1. Start with one floor form work for one ceili ng the next ceiling will be executed when the previous item finishes Work Suspend order: At the end of July 2010 We had a letter from the owner to suspend the civil work due to governmental permits havent been released yet, and can continue in earth work and this hold will be till further notice. Work Suspend order: On first of December we had a letter of release of work But to finish in the project scheduled finish time without any delay as all units have been sold to Clients.

Our Company had to make another schedule using fast track technique to recover the project delay. New Work Logic: First of all Our subcontractor for earth work was good enough that he finished all excavation and replacement work in project before end of July. Work will start in phase one and two in same time by buildings 1,4 and seven in same time. We will buy new additional form work for buildings 7, 8 and nine and additional form fork for first floor for buildings 4, 5 and Six. Masonry work will not start after the shuttering o f first floor is removed and extra safety precautions will be taken. Formwork cycle: Start with full form work for all times for building one then will move from item in building 1 to building No. 2 then Building No. 3.same time start with all items for building No.7 Then Building No. 8 and finally building No.9 as in fig. 2. Start with Two floor form work for one ceiling the next ceiling will be executed when the previous item finishes The effect of fast tracking on project Cost and Resources: As Figures 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 3-4 and 3-5 and Tables 3-2, 3-2, 3-3, 3-4 and 3-5. We will see that the resources distribution has changed and increased as distributed but the totals are same. For Indirect Cost: Mobilization: we had to build more labor cam p as one room takes 20 labor so before we needed 7 Rooms but after we need 11 rooms and also more bathrooms. Instead of one engineering team for the life time of the project we need to teams for 80% of the new duration. Only cost decreasing is the head office cost as the du ration decreased.
